Serpent Spine Mountains
This piedmont range was named for its similarity to the winding of a snake. The single crest of mountains meanders from the northeast, rising higher and higher as it approaches The Glow to the southwest.
The ridge marks the northernmost border of the Pawnee Nation and the southernmost extent of the lands claimed by Demon Barry's Mercenaries. (It rhymes)

Geography
What people do not realize is that this mountain range is, in fact, the spine of a great solar serpent. Only those who get close enough to The Glow would ever discover this. Over a hundred kilometers long, this great serpent carcass has been here for over two hundred years, since before the founding of Chi Town and The Coalition States and Tolkeen. The Barony of Hope was founded before the Great Solar Serpent made its try at Fiskrakroloss, but they were so focused on their own survival at the time that only the most vague references to it can be found in old songs and legends.
As the mountain ridge approaches The Glow, it becomes noticeably less mountain-like. Enormous bare ribs enclose the cavernous chest cavity and are topped by the vegetation-covered vertebrae towering above. The skeleton of the great serpent ends, headless and charred, about four kilometers northeast of The Glow.
Fauna & Flora
No flesh remains of the great serpent below. In the two hundred years since the great beast was felled, plant life has thrived in the massive amount of nutrient-rich faeces surrounding it, completely disguising the skeleton.
Any natural flora and fauna found in the region can be found here as well.
In addition, the sheer volume of scavengers attracted to the site two centuries ago has left an inordinately high population of scavengers in the area to this day. Carrion eaters are so abundant that Undeath is rarely an issue here and it is the primary poaching grounds of the Carrioneers Corpse Burners. It is one of the only places in the three galaxies where Sha can be found in the wild. Even Heart's Blood flowers are exceedingly common in this area.
Natural Resources
Other than the bones of the great serpent and those of the multitudes of scavengers that followed, there are few natural resources found in and around the ridge. The earth under the serpent's skeleton has not been explored by man since before the great cataclysm. It is a potential trove of pre-cataclysm technology and materials, if any of it survived.
History
A reminder of a great battle between Fiskrakroloss and a (the?) Great Solar Serpent. It remains as a precautionary tale to any and all who would challenge the ancient dragon for dominion.
Tourism
After the great serpent was killed, the region became inundated with scavengers of all shapes and sizes. Near wars were fought over the spoils between them. Mostly beasts, their carcasses contributed to the volume of detritus surrounding and eventually disguising the serpent's form. Once gutted, the interior of the beast became a shelter to all manner of denizen. There are rumors that an entire dwarf clan from the Palladium world has made a pact with the dragon to live there.
The photograph above shows the serpent spine mountain ridge from the north in early morning sunshine. If you look closely, you can make out the individual ribs of the skeleton, hiden by 200 years of detritus and plant growth.
