The Ruins of Cody

Buried and forgotten under a hundred meters of inverted earth.

In a pocket cavern under a hundred meters of earth lay the ruins of what was once Cody Wyoming.

Demographics

Close to a hundred Maxpary call this place home.

History

When the Maxpary came to Rifts Earth, they were attracted to the edges of the The Bighorn Inversion, where they could access the soft diggable soil of the surface. Eventually, they discovered the pocket caverns. The pocket caverns containing the ruins of Cody were particularly attractive as they were able to collect many of the raw building materials to make temples to their revered triumvirate.

Architecture

They prefer digging in soft soil and rarely have any buildings or architectural elements of their own. The only identifiable characteristic of Maxpary colonies are their shrines and temples. These are usually collections of precious stones and interesting rocks arranged in geometric patterns. In the case of the temples of Cody, these are comprised of recycled building materials salvaged from the ruins.

Geography

Before the great cataclysm, Cody Wyoming was a small town of about 10 thousand people around a deep canyon through which flowed the Shoshone river.  The river no longer flows, and the deep canyon has become a sinuous underground lake.     The entire pocket is shaped like two dinner plates placed one on the other, each facing the other, which had then been hit with a large hammer on top.  So the general impression is of a broken and shattered shallow dome over top another shallow depression, with the river-shaped lake meandering through it.  The roof of the pocket is up to 10 meters in places.
