The Razing of Fenylnarask, Naval Engagements & The Battle at the Inn of the Good Aman (997-999)

subject 1 - the razing
subject 2 - naval battles
Located at the River Crossing near Kharask, the Inn of the Good Aman was the site of one of the pivotal battles in the war, where momentum once more swung in favor. In the Spring of 999, the combined might of the First and Second hosts of Enekland as well as that of the Heart Carvers, amassed near the river crossing. Once Kharask would be taken, the road to Great Irinoff would be open. Scouts from the Second Host reported that the crossing was only lightly guarded and that the majority of the Garrison at Kharask were stationed behind the castle walls in preparation for a siege. The Enekland strategy was to leave the second host to beseige the castle while the First Host and the Heart Carvers make for Irinoff.

The seige would never happen though, the meager garrison at Kharask would sally out to meet them past the crossing near the inn. Before the Enekland host could gain a favorable position, their fortuntes would shift though, as camped in the hills north of the road leading to Kharask, the High Marshall of Irinoff had wintered throughout 998 rebuilding his forces following their rout from Fenylnarask. From their flanks, rode the marshall and his force of some 700 Cavalry smashing into the disorganized Eneklander ranks. For several hours the fighting raged on, blood from the battle pouring into the nearby river and, as if it is to be believed, swathes of reddish blood-water could be seen floating down river past Great Irinoff itself before pouring out into the Eastern Expanse.

The Summer of Three Betrayals (999)

The Heart Carvers abandon their flanks after getting smashed by the Grand Duke's Heavy Cavalry.

The Third Legion rebels after a costly battle decimates the Grey Knives responsible for keeping the Rats in check.

The King of Enekland offers clemency to the remaining Rats of the Fourth Legion who quickly turn on the Low Lords and Grey Knives. They are allowed to settle in Enekland though complications will inevitably arise as result of this.

Later War (1000-1001)

The Iron Masters are brought in to replace the Heart Carvers, and prove to be substantially more effective.
