Dracoris

Dracoris is a mostly desolate desert valley in the far east of Kashura, encircled by The Dividing Highlands to the west and The Stormsoul Peaks to the east, which join together and enclose Dracoris from all sides but north, where The Emerald Sea splits it from the lands further to its north.   Ruins of once great cities, monuments and temples dot the otherwise desolate wasteland, partially revealed or fully buried by the sand. These locations are said to hold great riches, artifacts, as well as a wealth of knowledge long thought forgotten, ready to uncover for those daring enough to risk their life and set out for the scalding wastes.

Climate:

The climate of Dracoris can best be described as agonizing. During mild seasons temperatures average out at between 30-40C (86-104F), but it can get hotter. Most of Dracoris has extremely low humidity and dry, dusty air, and what little rain does fall tends to be centered on one of the major oases that dot the landscape.
During the harsher seasons, temperatures can climb to 50C (122F) and in some, extremely rare cases even higher. During these seasons, Dracoris will experience extreme droughts (more than usual), sandstorms (also more than usual) and earthquakes.

Population:

The entire region of Dracoris is home to around 150.000 people, almost all of which are of The Draconid Strain. These people overwhelmingly live in and around the major cities of the region, or around one of the oases which dot the landscape. Over a third lives in and around Sacromas (see: The Draconid Empire) alone.

Polities:

Dracoris is the heartland of The Draconid Empire, an empire which once was the mightiest that the continent had ever seen. Since the event known by most as “The Devastation of Dracoris” or simply “The Devastation”, which over decades turned the once lush and fertile region into a dry and desolate wasteland, The Draconid Empire has fallen from grace substantially, nowadays reduced to little more than a rump state.
