Bassan

Bassan is the title given to the leader of the Veremaan Bassanate. The Bassan is elected at the semiannual Council of Commerce where the most prominent merchants and guild leaders gather to elect the next in line which will lead for the next two years. One can be elected for multiple non-consecutive mandates.

Appointment

The Bassan is elected by representatives of different guilds, prominent merchants and city leaders at the Council of Commerce.

Grounds for Removal/Dismissal

In all known history only one Bassan was ever dismissed from their duties due to the destructive influence their term had on the Veremaan economy.
