Thorfin Intelligence Agency
The TIA, or Thorfin Intelligence Agency, is Thorfin's equivalent to the CIA and FBI together.
Purpose
Public
The TIA is charged with investigating everything from smuggling to terrorist threats on Mudni and Gudrunn at large.
They have a special interest in containing the Husks to Thorfin itself for fear that they may infect Mudni if they are ever taken off the world.
In recent decades, the TIA has expanded their scope to investigating foreign ships and training normal military operatives to investigate possible smuggling vessels due to the high amount of traffic through the system.
Rumored
As with many such powerful agencies, there is a less public but often whispered about purpose.
The TIA is said to be conducting strange experiments with technology bordering on (if not well into) mal-tech. Everything from experimenting on the abilities of captured Husks to barely understood pre-Sceam technology that was experiential even when it was made.
These rumors have little to no evidence behind them, but they are persistent if nothing else.
Super Soldiers
One "off the books" operation that has been whispered about recently is that the TIA has been conducting research on new combat stimulants and along with genetic modifications.
The main 'evidence' of this operation was a recent scandal involving a doctor working in a maximum security prison that supposedly went rogue and began doing experiments on prisoners. These experiments ended with a riot enhanced by short-lived combat stims that ended with most of the 'patients' having brain hemorrhages and dozens of guards and other prisoners beaten to death.
The doctor, who has yet to be identified, fled the system. Although recent reports say they have been captured and are being transported back to Thorfin to face trial.
Now the conspiratorial amongst the public claim that this doctor was working on the orders of the TIA and is now being used as a scapegoat once the experiments went wrong. There is little evidence to support these claims, but then again the doctor's identity is still being hidden, which is odd to say the least.
