Scion of the Psyche
A wondrous title, given only to those with good intent and those who can become greater people themselves. A scion of Psyche is a warlock who has made a pact with a mystical patron known as Psyche, who is depicted as an aspect of goodness, commonly taking the size of a lady with large, bright wings. Often regarded by the beauty of her character, Psyche represents the pure goodness found both within nature and within people, especially within the mainland of Aitso, in areas with deep connections to the Feywild. Currently, Psyche holds a handful of warlocks, amounting to only ten at one point of time. This is for a kind reason, to be close to those she has made pacts with, resembling the archetype of a caring mother, or older sister. When one of her Scions die, she begins to sought out her next scion, in a constant cycle, to compare to a life cycle of a butterfly. Psyche wishes to find those that have been wronged in any way, shape or form, but do not wish for revenge.
The Trials of Psyche
Before one is allowed to become a Scion, they must undergo four trials of varying difficulties. These trials ramp in difficulty, with multiple distractions and challenges littered between their beginnings and their ends. The first trial is a simple one, to travel across a stretch of land, in deep forests and empty fields, in only one day. It ends with a shrine to nature, decorated with pristine flowers and vines. Along the way, the potential scion will be asked by an old lady to accompany her in going to the nearest settlement, carrying her basket of materials to sell, which sets them on a different path, resulting in a further way to travel. Awaiting them at the end is Psyche herself. For the second challenge, it takes place within the shrine. Within a month's time, Psyche allows for her potential scion to find the prettiest flower amongst the shrine. One could instantly go off and find one, however, there are also decaying plants nearby, in desperate need of kindling and growth. If one of these plants are presented, after being nurtured, it results in higher favourability from Psyche, as it demonstrates one's patience. Thirdly, one has to sort grain from a large bowl, filled to the brim with different types of seeds found within nature. Psyche asks for the potential scion to sort it 'just as nature would', which could be seen as a way to distribute them by size, or type, but the most perfect answer available is to simply pour the bowl out onto the ground, as nature does not judge by the appearance or type of something. As for the last trial, which is tailored towards the person undertaking the challenge, which is more often than not, given a chance to take revenge on the thing that had wronged them in life. If they choose not to take this offer, they have succeeded on the last trial. After this, if Psyche deems them worthy, they become her next scion.Expectations and Responsibilities
A scion's purpose is to be a genuine, good person. They are often seen in a positive light, due to their almost eternal need to help people, thus making them respected people in society. Often, these scions would be bestowed gifts by those around them, only as a response to helping people. They do not demand a gift, or even expect one, but when given, it makes their day even better. They refuse to accept any form of monetary gifts, such as money or land, but they prefer trinkets and interesting materials. If given a gift in temporary housing, they make their duty to help out in any way that they can. Often, the Scions live close to areas with shrines in them, in dedication to Psyche, so that they can keep the area clean. Psyche encourages them to clean the area, and organise fundraisers to better everyone. Psyche does not require them of any responsibilities, technically, more in the nature of encouragement and offers.Euthalia Grace
Princess Euthalia Grace was the youngest member of the most recent generation to the Grace royal family, with six older sisters that lived within the same castle as her. She was thought to be the most beautiful of the entire family, a viewpoint seen throughout most of the Graceswift area. Consumed by jealously, two of her older sisters had launched a plot to kill her, and due to their power, the other sisters did not intervene out of fear that they would be killed also. On Euthalia's 100th birthday, she was treated to a massive banquet with all of her extended family. It was here that she had her meal poisoned, which resulted in her death shortly afterwards, since she had retired to her room early. It was next afternoon at Euthalia would be found dead in her room, after she did not do her usual routine of helping the townspeople in the morning.During her passing, an approach was made to her sub-consciousness. Asking if she'd wish to continue on in life, as a scion, she had accepted and underwent her trials. She succeeded, with flying colours! Euthalia embodies everything that Psyche wants in a Scion, as well as everything that the patron represents.
