The Myriad's Tomb

In the shackled, dark realms of Lydgartha's dark cities, stands small shrines, in the form of a looming, jagged, black obelisk. Decorated with demonic runes, they all mimic an actual tower, elsewhere, far from any proper civilisation, yet still in this evil Kingdom's land. These towers act as safeguards, portions of seals to prevent a singular monstrosity known as The Myriad from breaking free. The tower itself is known across all of Lydgartha, but is not common knowledge for anybody outside of this empire's lands. Lydgartha has made it forbidden for anybody to go within 20 feet of any of these obelisks, punishable by death. Their iron fist on their land is reflected on why Lydgartha even has these towers. The sole reason for their existence is to imprison a malicious aberration known as the Myriad. An all-consuming sentience that takes the form of hundreds of hands, made of pure energy. The energy itself burns bright, and has an acidity to it as well. If something can survive the heat, then they'd melt. If they can survive both, these hands often resort to crushing whatever is unable to join their consciousness. The miniature statues in each city each hold a fragment of a seal, a seal that holds back the Myriad for the main obelisk. If it is exposed to wind, then the wind will carry this small fragment across the air, back to the central obelisk. If a majority of parts meet here, then the prison that holds the Myriad will be destroyed, and the ancient evil will be freed.
The main obelisk was made centuries ago, with it's creator being an Archangel known as Miriel. She had fought against the Myriad in a devastating battle, leaving major craters across the landscape of their fight. These craters supported the energy of the Myriad as well as the divinity of Miriel herself. Soon they hosted bright lights of sentience, and over the coming centuries would form into small civilisations made up of Aasimars, given a duty to protect the Obelisk which is not far from their home. They do not eat, drink or sleep, or even provide resources, they only guard, thus making them the perfect defence. In the fight, Miriel used up half of half of her power to seal away this foe. But the damage was done, a once beautiful land was made twisted, devoid of life or any interesting items. The Iconicity of this land was taken away from the people, which turned them depressed, dreary, and grey in nature. All of this is unknown to the people of Lydgartha however, all they truly know is that the obelisks are not meant to be touched, or to even be close to. After all, they'd be killed for it.
There exists only one being out there who actively wishes to get inside of this Obelisk, unaware of the dangers inside. This is Ingvar, from The Red Moon , who believes that the being inside could be a trapped god, capable of completing his tasks. He knows of the difficulty of opening it however, and so he has kept this idea within the back of his mind, as a sort of last resort. Although Lydgartha's already a location which holds no members of the Red Moon within power, due to it's close-knit community ruling at the top.
You know your orders. Kill anyone who gets close to it. Anyone. If its your fellow guardsman, do the same. I don't care who it is, just kill them! You hear me?!
- Royal Captain Tervo

The guardsmen, or commonly known as The Executioners, are powerful fighters donned in dark, metallic armour, each given a heavy axe to deter the public from getting close to the smaller obelisks. They are told that it is a matter of grave disrespect to the higher-ups, and that they should killed upon getting close. Not even they know about the truth behind this landmark. Sometimes these guards ask questions about why they do what they do, but they are quickly silenced, often told that their job is easy to do, and they are paid a lot to keep their mouths shut and their weapons brandished. Their leader is Royal Captain Tervo, but even he does not know the full extent of why they do what they do. All he knows is that there is evil behind these towers, and that they must not be interacted with, lest they wish for an apocalyptic event. Ironically enough, Tervo's weapon of choice are two gauntlets infused with powerful FlameStone , often mimicking the burning sensation that arrives once struck by the Myriad itself. Those above him that know of the Myriad often mock him behind his back, for this shred of irony. Ultimately though, they know the risks of the Myriad, and often keep themselves strictly serious on debates on it, or even in reference to it.
