Konigsberg
The city was purpose-built as a capital, and so it is well organised with four clear districts and a beautiful capital complex. But the city has spilt over from its original design, and the city extends out past the walls at each of the main gates which in turn also once hard parks at each entry into the city but these have long since been filled with additional unintended cramped districts each named by locals by the road or gate.
Districts
Crown District
This District includes the capital complex which includes the king's palace a massive park divided by a promenade that leads straight to the palace walls and a number of luxurious manor houses and rich taverns adjacent to the palace complex and intended as a place for local and visiting nobles and dignitaries to stay. The park is designed in such a way that it has large areas of open grassland where festivals can be held or as a parade ground for military demonstrations, practically it gives a place for the army to assemble to defend the palace. A large temple to the Solar Gods (where Xotan Telki is the primary patron) lies on the edge of the Crown District adjacent to a plaza which lies at the cities centre.Mage Quater
This small district is tucked between the Crown District and the walls and was purpose-built at the request of the powerful arcane universities. The Mage quarter is home to libraries, magic shops and a small college to teach upcoming wizards, but it is also is home to the Magi headquarters for the United Principalities, it is said that when the district was constructed it included a vast underground labyrinth including dungeons for illegal mages and secret libraries of arcane knowledge.Guild Square
The second-largest district of the city, it was paid for by a group of guilds who wanted to ensure that they were not left out of the city planning process. It features a large open square which is often filled with market stalls, the plaza is actually owned by the merchants guild and they get to decide who can have a stall and how much they pay. Surrounding the square (which is not actually square) lie various guild halls and workshops. Most of the major guilds are represented in this part of the city, except for the Smiths and Armourers guild who were absent when the deal to construct the city was signed (they were protesting an alliance with the Dwarves). The Commons
The Commons is by far the largest district, all the land in the commons is owned by the crown and leased to anyone who wants to live there and use the buildings. The rents are fairly cheap, but high enough to prevent slums to emerge, the commons is home to much of the middle-class freemen living here, there is also some light industry and many taverns and a bawdy-house. A major road passes through the commons from the Trade Way to the plaza, non-guild shops have sprung up along the road creating a secondary market area.Trade Way
The first of the unofficial districts, trade way is named for the road by the same name, most of the trade enters and leaves via the gate here, so inns for travellers, stables for caravans and a few shops have filled in around this gate inside and outside the walls.Dwarfgate
This unofficial district lies on a road that eventually leads to the Tranquil Mountains and the various dwarf halls within, it is mainly Dwarves who live here with a thriving smithing industry, thanks to the absence of the armour and smithing guilds from the city. Sometimes also called 'Dwarftown', it is a hotspot of Dwarven culture, it is even nominally ruled over by a Gothi.Ozy Road
This is the nearest the city has to a poor district. Ozy road leads to the former Principality of Galliflax and its capital city Ozyoberg, after the principality left the kingdom and relations soured, the district become fairly poor and neglected as trade through that gate almost halted entirely, since then it has become a town of refugees from Galliflax as people tired of living under goblin rule have fled to the Principalities.Farmside
This district sits outside the city and operates as a small self-sufficient township outside the walls, it lies on the edge of vast farmland which is some of the best in the Crownlands. Farmside includes several wholesalers belonging to the Brewers and Vintners Guild and many cheesemakers. They bring milk and grapes in from the surrounding farms and manufacture finished wine and cheese for the whole kingdom.Grum Road
This district leads to Vurisdale and the Earthwall Mountains beyond, the road runs directly to Grumtor, thus the name. This road is also sometimes called 'The Grain Way' as it is the major road that leads to the breadbasket of the kingdom Vurisdale, it is common to see wagonloads of grain, thatch and straw being moved along this road, the bakers guild has a significant presence here as they tend to have a habit of trying to fix the price of grain.
