The Acquisitions Incorporated Interview Process

Applicants for Acquisitions Incorporated face a through interviewing process, described by Adventuring Monthly as "The Best In The Business".   Stage 1: The Application   The first step towards gainful employment is paperwork. The Employee Application Paperworkis designed to eliminate illiterate applicants from the pool, as well as to measure the dedication of prospective employees. Providing management with a clear idea of what sorts of aspiring employees they'd be hiring is also an important factor.   Stage 2: The Obstacle Course   Originally designed as an Intern training grounds, the Obstacle Course is a miniature dungeon with rooms that can be shifted, moved around, and adjusted where needed. Each room is designed to test an applicant in a different way, and the rooms are often replaced with new challenges based on estimated need within the company. Some common evaluation rooms include:
  • "Building the Brand" (Adventurers are tested on things such as spur-of-the-moment spiderman quips and character-specific catchphrases, both essential for marketing appeal of a prospective Acq. Inc. Adventurer)
  • Combat Prowess (Fighting, dodging, disarming, parrying, countering, showing off against clearly inferior foes, and unconventional tactics like chandelier swinging and trap improvisation)
  • Dealing with Magical Fuckery (Dealing with arcane puzzles, traps, and riddles)
  • Acquiring (Gathering loot and carrying it to a designated spot)
  • Terrain-specific tests (Things like crawling, climbing, and navigating mazes or ill weather while timed)
  • Negotiating and exploiting Faustian contracts (This room rarely appears, but tests an applicant's willingness to haggle, bargain, and not just take a metaphorical chunk of meat dangled in front of them when a better offer can be on the table.)
  • Swimsuit competition (It's every bit what it sounds. Market evaluation has identified that adventurers who are pleasing to look at drive repeat business)
  • Aquatic Adventuring (Swimming, diving, beach volleyball, and treasure hunting)
  • Intelligence and Lore evaluation (Tests on arcane, clerical, and magical knowledge)
Applicants are assigned point values between 1 to 10 on each room, and point values are tallied. The obstacle course tends to be between 4 to 6 rooms, and an applicant needs at least 25 points to qualify for the interview, and at least 40 points to be considered for a non-intern position, normally.   Stage 3: The Interview   The obstacle course gives way to a interview with a trained member of management to go over an applicant's resume, their obstacle course performance, and ask a number of piercing and invasive questions about the applicant's performance. In general, these interviews are handled by a ranking member of the A-Team, or one of the managers like Certainty Dran. However, in the field, when a member is needing to be replaced, any Acq. Inc team can interview and hire on new applicants on a provisional basis.   A preview of Acquisitions Incorporated's training materials.   Return to the front page!
