The Councel of Elders

Since Verdora only recently has been rediscovered there is no king or queen. The absence of a king or queen reflects a unique system of governance that emphasizes collective decision-making and representation. The city is ruled through a council known as the "Counsel of Elders." The Counsel comprises respected individuals from different walks of life, including scholars, community leaders, representatives of various professions, and spiritual guides.   The Counsel of Elders gathers regularly to discuss matters pertaining to the well-being and development of Veridora. Each member brings their expertise, knowledge, and perspectives to the table, ensuring a diverse range of voices and insights are considered. This approach allows for a balanced decision-making process that takes into account the city's varied needs and interests.   Decisions made by the Counsel of Elders are typically reached through consensus or a majority vote. Discussions revolve around city planning, policies, resource allocation, civic initiatives, and matters concerning Veridora's growth, preservation, and cultural heritage. The Counsel also acts as a judiciary body, ensuring fair and impartial resolution of disputes within the city.   Additionally, the Counsel of Elders serves as a direct link between the residents and the governing body. They listen to the concerns, ideas, and suggestions of the populace, striving to represent their interests and aspirations in the decision-making process. This ensures that the governance of Veridora remains rooted in the needs and aspirations of its inhabitants.   To maintain transparency and accountability, the Counsel periodically organizes town hall meetings or open forums, providing opportunities for citizens to voice their opinions, ask questions, and participate in the governance of the city.   This council-based system allows Veridora to foster a strong sense of community involvement and shared responsibility.
