The Ruined Castle Ravenloft

Written by
Castle Ravenloft was the first castle that the Vel To'ori conquered. This makes it a popular pilgrimage site for members of the Vel Tuturi.

Purpose / Function

The original purpose of the castle was to house one of the Tridomatry's barons, as well as his family and servants. However, when the baron was overthrown by a small group of Vel To'ori members, it was repurposed as a shelter for refugees from Tridomatric raids.

Alterations

The main alterations that were made with the Vel To'ori conquered the castle were to tear down the Tridomatric banners and replace them with Vel To'ori banners. Beyond that, the building's architecture itself was left intact.

Architecture

Castle Ravenloft in its time was a sizable castle, built meticulously out of white bricks and decorated with red and gold banners. There were once buildings within the walls of the castle, mainly housing for servants and stablehands. These were built out of wood, though some of the buildings had stone frames.
There are no walls outside of the castle itself, but it's possible that this was because this castle was only for a minor baron instead of a more powerful or significant ruler.

History

Castle Ravenloft was known to the Tridomatrics by another name which has been lost to time. However, it's believed that the castle originally belonged to a minor baron who attempted to make everyone in his barony convert to Tridomatry. This is what's believed to have caused the rebellion against him, making it possibly one of the first rebellions to come under the blanket of The Great Rebellion.
After it had been conquered by the Vel To'ori, the castle became a safe place for its members to hide out in if they were attacked by the Tridomatrics. Over time it gained a reputation for being a popular place for refugees of Tridomatric raids.
Unfortunately, this was not to last forever. During the Great Rebellion, Castle Ravenloft was destroyed, with many of its residents being forced to evacuate. All that's left of it are segments of its walls and some of the torn banners.

Subtle. Good work, though, Nat. I like the inclusion of Ravenloft very much

... Intriguing. As someone who's fond of the exact sort of tone Ravenloft is made for, this has me very curious about how specifically it's incorporated. Assuming, that is, it's the same Ravenloft that's brought to mind by the name.

Full disclosure, I just went with the name because it was on the donjon map of Actrein and the castle name generators I found didn't spit out any names that spoke to me.

Concise and packed with information, very nice ^-^ You still have quite a bit of room left in your sidebar, so adding article blocks underneath might be a good and efficient way of dealing with that. I also noticed that both your links to "Venzo" and "Vel To'ori" do not provide tooltips when I move my mouse over them. This may be because you did not add an excerpt in the corresponding articles; I highly recommend doing that, since the tooltips help make your articles more self-contained ^-^   Lastly, I would consider increasing the base font-size of your CSS, since I find this a bit straining to read personally.   Still, a nice read, good job!

Interesting, Vel To'ori should give a tooltip. Venzo doesn't because it's not done yet, but Vel To'ori was another summer camp submission, and I could swear I gave it an excerpt.
How do I do that? I just picked a theme and went with it, no CSS editing because I don't yet know how to do that.

In your world settings is a custom CSS text-field. Into it paste this code:

.user-css.page { font-size: 115%; }
Adjust the number as you wish, though I think 115% works quite well with your layout ^-^ If tooltips aren't invoked in links created by the WA article template (because you selected the article in a drop down) that may be because they only appear in @ mention links. Should that be the case, I would recommend removing the dropdown selection and just manually writing those links in the sidebar, which you can edit in the Design tab of your article. something like:
Location under [Venzo] Owning Organization [Vel To'ori]
To get these @ mention links, just type the @ character in editing and start writing the first few letters of your to-be-linked article, and it will provide you with a clickable list of candidates.

I know how to do @ links, they're usually all over my articles
I'll try to get to manually doing the sidebar bits, though it's gonna take me a while since I have just a few articles.
