Amellianus Fabii "Rex"

Amellianus Fabii was an elf who attempted to assume control of the Evonian Republic in the 5th century. Accused of attempting to make himself king (Rex), he and his followers were exiled from the Republic. In 410 IC Amellianus invaded the then politically divided Island of Ciello and established himself as its ruler, with his fellow exiles as the new ruling class. 
Amellianus ruled the island for over seven decades. During his rule many architectural wonders were built in the elven style on the island. Many innovations were brought in; such as magically enhanced agriculture. Several new towns were founded, such as Merata. However, Amellianus ruled with an iron fist and treated the vast human majority on the island as little better than slaves. 
In the latter years of his rule he faced increasing resistance, and then open rebellion. By 487 he and his remaining supporters were besieged in the fortress at Cunaris. By the following year the food supplies there had run out. According to legend his wife schemed to surrender Amellianus to the besieging army, in exhange for clemency. When he learned of the plot the "king" flung himself out of the highest tower and was smashed on the rocks below. 
A human by the name of Antonio of Aldershall was the leader of the army which put an end to Amellianus' rule. He subsequently founded the County of Aldershall in the north, after a brief and unsuccessful attempt at making himself the ruler of the entire island.
