Trial of Rhetoric

The Trial of Rhetoric is the second trial in the Trials of Succession between Amicus and Cassius for the title of emperor of Adastra. Set a few weeks after the first trial, this trial only involved the two competitors being given twenty minutes to rhetorically debate and lay out their plans for the future of the empire.

Synopsis

Despite the events leading up to the second trial, Amicus sticks the rules of the trial and elegantly orates his governing ideas about the future of the empire. In contrast, Cassius gives an impassioned speech about the past trajectory of the empire and the plight of the Wolven outside of the major cities. He also spends 30 seconds of his time broadcasting Amicus's hookup with Neferu to to all of Adastra in order to discredit his bid for emperor in the eyes of a conservative empire. Cato reprimands Cassius for breaking the rules several times and is astonished when Cassius plays the sex tape. Before Neferu and Marco leave assuming the worst, the votes are tallied with all triumvirates voting in favor of Amicus and only Cato voting for Cassius thus giving Amicus the second trial.
