Gabe's Training Regiment
General Summary
I thought it appropriate time to get some training done for some of our newer members, as we're never going to get rid of these troubles on Ysgard without experienced adventurers on hand. So this mission will be simple enough. I'll be sending the lot of you out to Gabe's Pass. But not through the teleportation circles that we've all grown so accustomed to. We'll have you travelling on foot, and Gabe has gone through great lengths to fill the basement of the keep with some of the local wildlife. At first we told him not to do so but after realizing fighting against it would be pointless, we've repurposed it into a gauntlet of sorts that should be relatively low danger enough for new recruits. We'll of course be sending an instructor just to make sure things remain safe. Sir Gathar will be joining all of you - Not through the dungeon itself mind you, just waiting at the entrance incase any issues arise. Of course, all who take on the training regiment will be paid for their time. 100gp for each of you.Four adventurers took part in this quest.

Minyue's Report
(spoilered below)
Show spoiler
It would seem that it is up to I, Minyue Catalina, to chart the course of history for this guild.
Oh dear, does that sound too self important? Well. No matter. This is private, after all.

Log #1
Today started with a few of us recruits: myself, a very large man by the name of Ordelloz, a hooded woman who wore a mask bundled underneath her yellow robes by the name of Fara, and a masochist and an interesting fellow named Gerald.
While he was interesting, he also seemed quite grumpy. More on that later.
We were called to the front of the guild, and another large man was speaking to us about a trial. The guild wanted to test our capabilities, as Sir Gathar was saying, and they had specifically prepared a dungeon prepared for us.
I certainly had no idea what I was doing there, let alone the adventure that we were to embark on.
Our trek towards Gabe's pass was long, but not arduous. I stared at the ground mostly. I think I counted approximately 3,962 mushrooms along the way.
We eventually made it to Gabe's Pass, where we were led to the start of the dungeon. Gathar told us that he would wait an hour at the entrance, and then move towards the exit. He also told us about some medallions that we would have to collect for further payment.
I mostly wanted to go back and cry in my room at that point, but I think it was too late.
Fara asked the group of our capabilitites since it was our first time together, after all.
Again, I mostly wanted to bury my face into Nix's feathers... Ah they do soothe me. So I don't recall what the others said, but I think my abilities to Control Flames sure must have impressed them.... unless that was inappropriate. Hopefully not, as they seemed okay with protecting me.
Purple really is a peaceful color. I just wanted to show them that I was friendly. Maybe I should've went for inferno hellfire. That would've made me look stronger, probably.
We made our way into the dungeon, and it wasn't long before we ran into the first signs of trouble.
I was mostly following the big one. And hoping that I wouldn't get strangled or killed by the masked woman, whom now I know as Fara. It was quite harrowing and I'm sure Dean Gonzor would be proud of me.
When the path split, Gerald went gallivanting ahead with his torch as I notified them of a crunching sound towards the left side of the room. I do believe it was an eastward direction...
I don't know what they expected when we got attacked. I did tell them that something was there.
Combat ensued as Ordelloz and I found ourselves flanked by... spiders.
Such horrific creatures. Did you know that some spiders can jump 50 times their own length...? Imagine how horrific it would be to... oh who am I addressing? This journal is to myself.
Fara and Gerald ran ahead into the cave portion of the trial and from their chatter it seems they may have fought some kind of raptors.
I didn't know really as I mostly was fighting for my own life against those horrific arachnids. I was able to cast a few spells, but Ordelloz mostly pummeled the one attacking me. I couldn't really stand the sight of those ghastly things, so I decided to run.
Mother did say to face your challenges, but I don't believe she's ever stared down that horrendous monster that had almost eaten my face off! Oh mother, I miss you so.
As the situation calmed down, I was repremanded by Gerald. He told me to not run away and to be more careful. Or something. I don't remember exactly, but we then proceeded onward after Fara cared for my wounds. More on that later.
Such a rude man. I was merely acting on instincts of self-preservation. Oh but what would a masochist like that would know. I jest. Thankfully this is just my private journal.
I thought I was quite smart in recalling the medallion collection aspect of the challenge, although when we dug through the raptor dens, there seemed to be nothing but tightly packed hay.
We did find a medallion on the ground though in one of the dens, and noted the fact that we only saw two raptors when there were three different dens. Such a peculiar mystery...
When we made our way back to the other chamber, we too the other path and went south instead. We spotted a strange room that was blocked off by large boxes.
While I've always been stronger than some others, including my parents, the stones from those boxes were quite... hefty. I do wish that I was a bit more helpful during the challenge. I did suggest they crack open the box though. Turns out there was a medallion in it!
It was difficult to pass, but the three of them eventually managed to move the crates as we were finally able to make our way forward until we found ourselves in a room with water.
At this point, my fear had turned into somewhat of courage. And by that I mean. I thought I was going to die anyways, so I might as well speak up a bit more. I think my anxieties may have manifested in a few observations that may have insulted the other guild members. I will have to properly apologize at another time.
We aborted the idea of crossing the water as Ordelloz deemed it to deep. We later learned it was another location for the medallion. I knew it! We... I at least suspected it was something important.
We decided to backtrack, and when we went into another hallway, a barrage of arrows began to pummel against us. I dropped onto the ground and crawled with Ordelloz, while Fara and Gerald decided to tough it out.
Watching Fara move and chop arrows out of the air is quite inspiring, but when she fell unconscious, Ordelloz could only drag her forward. Gerald also seemed to have taken a cue towards the end of thetunnel, and dropped prone with us as well.
I was getting pretty annoyed of the sound of bashing arrows against a shield. But I couldn't really vocalize much at the time. You know, avoiding stuff is hard.
We eventually made our way through the treacherous corridor, when Ordelloz began to smack Fara around lightly, and Gerald had a few magical abilities of his own as he broke the trap with a Ray of Frost spell.
Ray of Frost, such a basic Cantrip. Perhaps I should memorize it at some point... It would most certainly be useful in future combat related missions.
I wandered and found a chamber with a chest, filled with coin. Ordelloz threw a javelin at it, as Fara also took a look at it.
We found out that this chest was merely filled to the brim with chocolate coins. And later, apparently another medallion was supposedly buried beneath. I am unable to consume the chocolate, but I think I can melt it down for other purposes. In any case, the chocolate aided us in our next trial...
We continued forward as insects began to descend upon us. They steered clear of Ordelloz and I, while they full on assaulted Fara and Gerald. We found out this was because these bugs were repelled by chocolates. Apparently part of a farm.
Gerald the masochist set himself on fire, while Fara danced about the insect clouds. I tried to assist them with my ability to control flame, but could only get a few floating about in the air. I weighted my options carefully, as Fara, Gerald, and Ordelloz were all having trouble fully pinning down the swarms.
I finally decided that I needed to spring into action. I was able to spray acid at the nasty little insects.
Note, I did not soil myself, but I was definitely thinking about it. And no, it was not pleasant even though the soiling never took place.
Fara was knocked out by the insects as I tried to help her kill the remaining bugs. The acid ate away at them as they eventually melted away.
I certainly think that my combat capability is approximately 0.256737273627377328%... there are improvements to be made for sure.
Since Fara was down, I used the best of my medical abilities to assist! Only to find out that bandages aren't as magical as mother used to make them feel. I truly thought just throwing some on the person would make them well.
We took an hour break before we continued onward, and traveled up a set of stairs. We found abandoned after abandoned rooms, and Ordelloz and Fara make disgusting discoveries in the trap sockets in the form of flesh. I didn't really look at it, but I'm sure those two could give a better description.
We went even further forward and heard the sound of changing. I thought it was a lovely party. It wasn't.
Continuing forward, we decided to investigate the source of the noise. Oh it was indeed a mistake, and my gut did tell me the right thing when I decided to hang back.
I heard a commotion from behind the door, and when I peeked through... There were giant, monstrous creatures that were about to murder us.
I watched in horror as Ordelloz's armor was stripped away.
We quickly absconded into the hallway, with Fara splitting from us. The next few moments occured way too quickly and chaotically, so my chronicling may have a weak spot.
Ordelloz and I found our way towards the exit, Ordelloz finding and alerting Illza and Gathar of the events happening below.
Illza and Gathar seemed in a hurry, and we found out later that these were not supposed to be part of our trial... Just some kind of horrific demons. I did think it seemed quite out of place... But what do I know? The horrific demons managed to leave a nasty scar on Ordelloz as well. It still seems to radiate with some kind of malice. Much worth investigating.
Also. It would seem my first expedition on Ysgard allowed me to witness the birth of a a new mystery on this island with those grotesque demons. Dean Gonzor, thank you for this opportunity.
I waited upstairs with Ordelloz for Illza, Gathar, and eventually a man named Quostor.
Gerald came up at some point, and eventually Fara returned as well. We all spoke together at length about what occured inside the tunnels. There may have been a foreman of sorts who deserted.that may have installed the Demons within.
I started to write a little bit of what has become this journal entry while they spoke of the mystery surrounding the occasion. I do have to say that the tension between Fara and Illza is something I definitely plan to avoid. Although there seems to be lessons I could take from both of the women. I do hope we can coexist peacefully.
Illza gave me 10 platinum, which I dutifully broke out to 25 gp a piece. I dropped my bonus towards the arcane coffers... after all, a larger Library directly benefits me.
We eventually returned to the guild and gave the report to the guildmaster, and get paid the rest of our promised dues. Well. This is the report, I suppose. Note: do not include this part in the actual report.
I suppose I should end each log with something. A quote. Tidbit of information. Something interesting...
Oh yes, how about something like: and that was how I, Minyue Catalina the Dragon Wing's Scribe, experienced my second day in Ysgard.
... No wait, that definitely sounds a bit too self important. Also, I need more parchment.
Oh dear, does that sound too self important? Well. No matter. This is private, after all.
