Jilvarif (Jill Var Riff)

Jilvarif is the God of Elves and the defacto ruler of the Feywild. He commands the realm from his palace in the high trees of Mithrendain, located where Vul Therin is in the material plane. This leads people to the common belief that Vul Therin is a holy city because it shares a location with Jilvarif's city in the Feywild, but the truth is ever so slightly more complicated than that. Regardless, Jilvarif is a commanding God who idolizes passion and full devotion in one's muse, though he is certainly not without his bursts of arrogance and stubbornness.   Jilvarif himself, however, is somewhat misunderstood as a God because of his position being so seemingly particular - God of the Elves, and misconceptions that his only concern is for the elven people in general when the reality is, as hinted at before, his interest and influence extends quite a ways further than that. In very simple language, Jilvarif can actually be considered The God of Day - Which is an important distinction from the God of the Sun, just as his wife would be the Goddess of Night, but not exactly the Divine of the Moon, as in Aden, Night and Day exist independently of the sun and the moon, with aether currents themselves ebbing and flowing as the passage of time makes its way through the world. It is Jilvarif, with his passions and muses that gives the worlds their light, so to speak, and just as the day can burn brightly (with of course the assistance of the Sun), it can also come to cause harm and enervation. When Jilvarif has his mind set on an idea, his passions have a tendency to take over and stubbornly force him onto a path even if there is some amount of doubt in his mind as to whether or not the path is the correct one. Even so, Jilvarif is often considered responsible for the Light in the The Domain of Light, and is ubiquitously considered the Lord of the Feywild.   Followers of Jilvarif are often elvish, though it is not uncommon for other races to praise him as well, and those who do have a tendency to devote themselves to some manner of craft, often times calling it their "muse" in honor of the God himself. They tend to have haughty attitudes and on occasion do indeed look down on others' faith, considering Jilvarif and his Light to be the most important thing in the universe, often citing how light is needed for harvest, for sight, anything under the sun that could be construed as a gift from the God of Day. Obviously, this earns them no end of ire from non-followers, but even so, Followers of Jilvarif do try to help and assist others fairly often, it just comes with an expected air of arrogance and grandure; and those who devote themselves to their "muse" are frequently highly sought after individuals regardless of how onery they are.   Jilvarif had a son with his wife who unfortunately was kidnapped by an unknown entity. When the Goddess Lolth was revealed to have replaced the son with a Changeling, Jilvarif accused her of usurption and other evil plots before sealing her away to The Feydark. Since then, however, he has raised the Changeling to the utmost of his ability, even going so far as granting it a seat in his Divine Court and gracing him with domains of his own. Both the God of Day and the Goddess of Night treat this foster son as if he were their own, and have showered him with nothing but love and affection despite his imposter-origins.
