Lorelai

Lorelai is the mysterious leader of The Root.
Very little is known about his history, but he seems to take his job seriously.
By order of the Oracle, Lorelai found the Tulips and placed them in Fidelia during the second scourge of the Deadly Raven. During this time, he communicated with them mostly via mail.
The circumstances under which Lorelai found the Tulips is a mystery, but Lorelai has told them that the Oracle makes no mistakes, and often selects heroes when they are at their worst.
Lorelai seems to know more than he ever lets on, but covers this up with his chipper, benevolent demeanor.
