Durham Warehouse
This is a two-story brick building of indeterminate age and in the gothic industrial brick style. It's structurally sound, but clearly the janitor has the week off. The building is on S. South Chicago Avenue between 88nd and 89rd streets.
The name "Durham Warehouse" is painted in white letters faintly visible beneath the soot and grime. When the building was built, there was a railroad spur for the warehouses along the street. Since then, the line has been upgraded and is now the double-track Pennsylvania Railroad mainline. The side facing the railroad tracks is filthier and windowless. There are large doors set at the height of a frieght car door. These are locked from the inside.
The east side of the building has large windows, heavily barred, on both floors. There are low wooden loading docks set at regular intervals.
The building just to the south on South Chicago Avenue is the Jeffrey Tavern.
