Gruumsh

Gruumsh (a.k.a. The Thousand Blades)

Gruumsh, known as The Thousand Blades is the God of Unending War, Respect and Wrath. Gruumsh is the Patron Deity of the Orcish people. He solely created them to be pawns for war and carnage within the world. As the world needs an opposite, they became the antithesis of Human and Elven populations within the world during the first centuries. The Orcs were originally created during the Uprising War  so the Shackled Pantheon would have an ample amount of foot soldiers to do their bidding. This partnership alongside with the Goblinoids is the main reason why Orcs and Goblins still work together to this day although the power dynamic is in the Orcs favor.   In an ideal society ran by Gruumsh, the weak of the world would be culled, to ensure that only the strong were to survive. Weekly fights to the death would decide who is labeled "strong" and who is labeled "weak". He immediately jumped to Torinn's aid during the Uprising Wars and fought on many occasions with the Gods of the Solar Pantheon. He would occasionally come to blows with Moradin, which is the symbolic reason why Dwarves and Orcs have such a strong hatred towards one another during that time. During one of these battles, Gruumsh was wounded by Moradin, fueling his hatred for the Dwarves even more. Moradin stood up for ideals that allowed for weakness to continue, like Tradition and History. Spiteful about losing to Moradin on the field of battle, even after the Uprising Wars were concluded, Gruumsh would put the Orcish and the Dwarven people against one another.    However, there is a side to Gruumsh that not many people see. His side of respect for warriors. Gruumsh respects those that head first into combat, knowing that they'll die. He believes a warrior's death is the best possible outcome for all people. Gruumsh heavily respects Veterans of War, especially those that retire after a long retinue of conflict. He respects this because they've put their lives on the line for ages, and it is a testament to their strength.    The Thousand Blades

Holy Books & Codes

The only Code that Gruumsh forces his Orcish people to follow is that the strong should survive while the weak should perish. Those that can't provide for themselves, shouldn't be able to provide for anyone.

Divine Symbols & Sigils

The divine symbol of Gruumsh is of an axe with skulls incrusted onto the Axehead. This is normally tattooed onto the body of a follower. The closer to the hands the tattoo is, the more strength is said to be given to the individual.

Tenets of Faith

Cleric Alignment

Gruumsh allows Orcs of all alignments.

Holidays

The only holiday that could vaguely be represented by Gruumsh is the Day of Remembrance. Celebrated on the 3rd of Solozio, The Day of Remembrance is the holiday where people go to pay respects for the Dead. Gruumsh demands that all followers go and pay their respects to the warriors that fought and died so that they could be living and breathing at this particular moment.

Divine Goals & Aspirations

Divine Goals

Gruumsh has 2 main divine goals that he endlessly tries to pursue. The first one is that he desires that the weak are culled and the strong survive. He views this as the only way to have an ideal society, one where no one is too weak to fight. The second goal Gruumsh has, is the extermination of the Dwarven people. He calls for the extermination of the Dwarves because of the insulting defeat he received at the hand of Moradin during the Uprising Wars.

History

Moradin and Gruumsh are destined to be rivals. They've fought many times during the Uprising Wars, in which Moradin handled Gruumsh devastating loss. With this loss in hand, Gruumsh's hatred for Moradin grew exponentially, to the point where Gruumsh's Orcs took on the task by Gruumsh to exterminate the Dwarven people.
