Nightmare Realm

The complete inverse of the Dream Realm, the Nightmare Realm is the realm where fears and beings of evil await their Afterlife. The current Nightmare Empress is Montmorency's twin sister Sylphene Yaldabaoth, who is currently imprisoned somewhere within Aedir. With her whereabouts known to one or two individuals within the old Crimson Phoenix, the power of the Nightmare Realm surges without an Empress in control.
What is consistent for the Dream Realm is also consistent for the Nightmare Realm, but inverted. Most of the differences will be explained below.

Geography

The Dream Realm at the current moment, is a set of scattered islands within a planar space. The scattered islands form a set of rings, with in the center a large and looming palace known as the Darkened Palace. With the Nightmare Realm being the flipside of the Dream Realm, a lot of the islands that exist in the Dream Realm also do in the Nightmare, if not inverted, darkened and corrupted.
Similar to the Dream Realm, there are also Nightmare Monarchs, dictated by the strength and the amount of people they inflict and affect. The current Nightmares who have elevated to Nightmare Monarch status:

• Crushed by Expectation. The Fear of Loss and Mounting Expectations.
• Apollo. The Fear of Betrayal and Fire.

They say that deep within the Nightmare Realm's Darkened Palace lies a figure trapped within the floors of both the Emerald and the Darkened Palace. A creature of terrifying power and fear. With it's only route of escape from the Nightmare Realm, with it's influence increasing, who knows if this creature will ever escape.

Ecosystem

There is no ecosystem within the Nightmare Realm. Any unlucky creature that manages to spend their Lottery within the Nightmare Realm will either have to adapt quickly, or will be killed repeatedly by the Nightmares of this Realm.

Ecosystem Cycles

Similar to the Dream Realm, there are periods of Nightmare Droughts during times of Hope, and Nightmare Overflows during times of Fear and No Hope.

History

The History of the Dream and Nightmare Realms span the whole history of Aedir. The Realms were created by Weru and Weronafter the outcome of the Uprising Wars, so the Dead would have a place and a chance to rebirth after their mistakes as Gods. The Celestials that died during the Uprising Wars were given a chance to serve as Kalashtar and given a second chance to defend the Dream Realm from Nightmares. Most agreed, but some said no, normally.
The Kalashtar chose the Yaldabaoth line to rule the Dream and Nightmare Realms. As they both need to be equal, for if one were to become stronger than the other, it will cause mayhem for the Material Plane. However, the Yaldabaoth line grew complacent in the minds of some of the Kalashtar, specifically towards those who embraced the fire of the Dream.
There was a brief stint of time where the Lord of Fire attempted to conquer the Dream, goaded by a Kalashtar named Apollo, who was upset with the complacency and wanted to test on his kin. Although the keeping of the next Empress in line, Montmorency, failed, their hold upon the Nightmare can still be felt towards this day. Apollo's rule over the Nightmare Realm has since grown with the Chaos of the world. The influence of Apollo's hold of the Nightmare Realm effects the Phoenix, as their abuse of the Verges is still used and curses the soldiers of the Phoenix.
