The Golden Guns (The Scattered Medallions)
The Golden Guns carry the core of the Scattered Medallions with them after the group fractured. Their main ideology is that the seas should be protected from piracy and rogue naval captains. The seas should be a free place where sailors don't have to worry about their lives every waking hour. Most of the Scattered Medallions that didn't leave for one of the splinter factions formed the Golden Guns. With the hope of one day reforming the Scattered Medallions, they have a lot of work to do if they want to see through with that goal.
Structure
Compared to the Evetic Inquisition, which has the religious head of the order lead until they step down and pick a successor, the Golden Guns run things a bit differently. The Golden Guns hold a Council every 10 years, which is known as The Council of Coins. This Council chooses to pick a Platinum Coin among themselves to run the Guild for 10 years. These Councilmen and Councilwomen are usually those that have pulled off amazing feats within the Guild. They are put on this council until they die or retire. There are always 5 on the Council, and they have the option to choose their First Mate as their successor if they choose to step down.
Titles within the The Golden Guns:
- Tier 1: Copper Coin - 1 Renown (The most basic rank within the Golden Guns)
- Tier 2: Silver Coin - 10 Renown (The second most basic rank within the Golden Guns, those who have been within the Inquisition for 3 months and have not received any infraction)
- Tier 3: Gold Coin - 50 Renown (Where the real soldiers begin to separate from the drabble. Those that reach Gold coin now have the ability to get a ship under their name and have the power to operate it as their own)
- Tier 4: Electrum Coin - 200 Renown (The real admirals that make the name for themselves gain the rank of Electrum Coin. Upon reaching this rank, these admirals can be raised to the Council of Coins once one of the Electrum Coins either dies or abdicates their position)
- Tier 5: Platinum Coin - 1000 Renown (Upon the current Platinum Coin passing away or abdicating their position, the First Mate of the Platinum Coin is honored as the new Platinum Coin. In the event there is no such first mate, then the position is passed to one of the Electrum Coins on the Council of Coins)
Public Agenda
The Golden Gun Creed is as such:
- "We must protect those that cannot protect themself, as these people are the heart of who we are as sailors. They are our family, our friends and our acquaintances. So we must do what we can do to protect them at all cost."
- "In the face of adversity, we must hold our heads high and look to the seas for new opportunities!"
- "The Seas are important for the flow of new people, resources, ideas and most importantly, gold!"
Assets
While the transition from the Scattered Medallions to the Golden Guns was tough, the Golden Guns took most of the remaining supply that was left after Vhana was burned to the ground. There wasn't much, but a couple of the flagships survived as they were out on patrol and numerous armadas were left intact. The main fleet has been rebuilt, and while it is nowhere near the amount it was before pre-Vhana, it has certainly helped stem a certain percent of piracy within the Veilnum.
The Golden Guns are also in control of a large stock of firepower, mainly handheld firearms; a new invention which is taking the Veilnum by storm. These firearms are different in the sense that they require a certain mental tether to an individual to be used, unlike cannons, which can be mastered and fired by anyone. This gives them a considerable edge against their enemies, as these new weapons have been seen to revolutionize the battlefield and combat tactics.
History
After the fall of Vhana by the Crimson Phoenix, the Scattered Medallions officially dissolved. The group split into three factions: The Powder Monkeys, a group of arsonistic goblins, Kobolds, Bugbears and anyone else crazy enough to follow this lifestyle. The Evetic Inquisition, which fractured 50 years beforehand, but grew to prominence after the fracture of the Medallions. Lastly, the Flowing Sails, a group of admirals that, now the main authority has essentially vanished, could show their real colors and subjugated communities and turned to piracy.
However, from the ashes, a couple of months after the Fall of Vhana, a group of Admirals from the Medallions and still committed to their cause came together in an undisclosed location and formed The Council of Coins. From this meeting the new Council established themselves as The Golden Guns, the descendants of the Scattered Medallions. Rebuilding the group to the stature of what the previous group was incredibly difficult. In that year alone, piracy grew dramatically. So the new Golden Guns had a lot to established and prove to the people of the Veilnum that they could be trusted again. And to prove this, they burned the Flowing Sails' main headquarters and freed those communities they subjugated, killing the main Platinum Coin in charge, and scuttling a big majority of their Navy. With one of their main competitors knocked down several pegs, they began slowly cleaning the remnants of the Sails until the group of pirates began hiding in the shadows.
5 years before the start of the campaign, a new Platinum Coin, a young and eccentric Purple T'Chai name Vincent Salza was elected after his Captain gave him the position of Platinum Coin and stepped down. The group is hopeful that they can make the same impact their ancestors did. The group has been steered into a new direction. This time, being a Bastion for the non-Beorc races of the Archipelago as racial discrimination between Beorcs and non-Beorcs is at an all time high. With the ascension of a T'Chai of all races to the position of Platinum Coin, people began joining the Golden Guns as they've seen the new direction the faction is trying to position itself as. Time will tell if this new direction will be beneficial to the Faction or not.
"May we protect the seas and the flowing waves of gold."
