The Scattered Medallions
The Scattered Medallions are a group of sailors and pirates who are advocating for open trade within the Veilnum Archipelago. The Scattered Medallions were formed just as the Age of Inquiry was starting, hoping to retrieve the lost treasure within the Archipelago that was lost due to the surrounding chaos.
The Scattered Medallions' main headquarters was stationed in Vhana, a hub of piracy and sailing within the Archipelago. They have a lax ruling over the city, but when they have to be, they can be as brutal as any other pirate faction.
However, after the siege of Vhana by another Pirate Group the Crimson Phoenix, the Scattered Medallions… scattered and splintered off into many different ideologies within themselves. Ultimately, the faction is still around, except that it's very disunified, and the chances that this faction will come back together and unify is very unlikely. While they have their arguments, the factions have not attacked one another intentionally.
Joining the Scattered Medallions usually depends on the faction you wish to join. Some require you to gain their trust, devote your life to a certain faith or just allow you to join without doing anything. One common theme remains within the faction from the days of old however, that once one joins into the faction, you must get the medallion of the faction you've joined burned onto your dominant wrist, which is where the title "copper coin" comes in.
Structure
The Scattered Medallions are made up of 4 key factions, that while they were once united, after the fall of Vhana they gained more autonomy and began pursing their own adventures. The four factions are loosely connected, as they still hold some sense of unification under the old ways.
The four factions of the Scattered Medallions are:
- The Evetic Inquisition
- The Golden Guns
- The Powder Monkeys
- The Flowing Sails
Public Agenda
The public agenda of the Scattered Medallions is to make sure the seas are safe for commerce and to prevent hegemony from one naval or political power.
Assets
Many ships, ranging in the hundreds, from small galleys to giant warships. Out of every faction or political faction in the Veilnum, the Scattered Medallions have the biggest navy out of all of them. With a large Navy comes with a lot of men, as each faction of the Scattered Medallions have their own set of men, allowing them to sail their fleets at full capacity and still have people on the side. The Medallions also have a lot of gold and valuable resources. While most of it was lost during the siege of Vhana, they still managed to retain their treasure and valuables.
History
The Scattered Medallions were formed around the beginning of the second Age, the Age of Inquiry. As piracy was becoming a more and more commonplace thing, multiple Admirals banded together to fight against the corruption and the piracy. As such, they sailed the waves and eventually either forced the pirates' hands or outright scuttled their ships. Their anti-piracy message made them very popular with the states of the Veilnum and as such, many of the Medallions were allowed free harbor within cities.
However the group eventually found itself a home in Vhana, the lawless city that the Platinum Coins of the Scattered Medallions built themselves. The city was controlled by the Platinum Coins of the Medallions and for hundreds of years, it became a symbol of anti-piracy and the protection of the waves. Though, eventually Vhana would fall, from a then unknown group of pirates known as the Crimson Phoenix. With blinding speed and staggering firepower, the city of Vhana was razed and sunk in a matter of days.
With the fall of Vhana, the multiple Platinum Coins, which were held by a loosely agreed upon notion of protecting the waves, scattered and formed their own faction within the Medallions. They and their loyalists formed the factions of the Golden Guns, Powder Monkeys, The Evetic Inquisition and the Flowing Sails. Each group had their own ambition and protected the waves in their own way. With considerable power lost from the fall of Vhana, the Scattered Medallions are slowly beginning their climb back to the stature they once had.
