Rock
Rock is an essence Golem and a secondary protagonist in the Ballrooms and Dragons campaign.
Personality
Rock was created as a bodyguard, so he has a strong protective instinct to his allies. Though he is not very smart, he has a strong sense of allegiance to his friends. After being used by The Cult of Catastrophe, he struggled to find his true purpose and personality.
Biography
Origin
Created by Catastrophe using a particularly powerful Essence Rune, he served as the main guard of the Facility's control room for many years.
Ballrooms and Dragons
When Rock summoned reinforcements to destroy the party, a guard showed his addiction to Fury Venom. In his teachings, the Cult of Catastrophe was good and the Fury Venom was bad, and this incident led him to question his actions. After some deliberation, he realized that the party were the only people that treated him with kindness, and decided to sacrifice himself to save them as the Facility collapsed, leaving his essence rune with Nelos.
When the party arrived at the factory in the sky, they used the equipment there to place Rock's essence rune into a new body, resurrecting him. He then fought with the party to reach Gregory until his soul was corrupted with Catastrophe's power, turning him against them. The party was forced to battle and eventually destroy Rock again.
After Gregory's defeat in the sky, Harmony purified his essence rune and gave him his body back. This did not last long, however, as a moral quandry forced Skye to destroy Rock and his essence rune, killing him permanently and sending the soul within to the Underworld.
Realm of Deception
A variant of Rock from a universe without Nelos appeared in Realm of Deception as a minor antagonist. Without Nelos to save from the facility, Rock escaped and decided to serve Lanisted as its protector until he was kidnapped by Porter the Mad for use as a character in his game.
As Porter's influence was spread too thin across the realm, Rock's powerful essence rune broke free of the spell and became enraged, forgetting the difference between intruders and friends and attacking everything in sight.
Abilities
Rock has shown to be on the more powerful side of essence golems, effortlessly destroying many others of his kind. His durability and strength are extremely high, and he is immune to many forms of damage.
