Ogres

One of the largest of all the sapient races to the old world, there is some debate among scholars whether Ogres are true giantkin or merely large humanoids, an answer many scholars feel optimistic about finding in the new world with sightings of actual giants for the first time in thousands of years.   In the old world, Ogres are reduced to a sorry existence. Used as brute labor, slaves and auxilary shock troops in armies. The times of large warbands despoiling the countryside is long since over and the race is dwindling under the oppression of the smaller, smarter races that enslave the remaining ogres.   In the new world, there is a significant population of ogres spread out across the various colonies, as ogres make for perfect labour in a hostile environment. Their large physique, a constitution hearty enough to life off almost anything and natural resilience makes them perfect laborers for fledgling colonies that can't afford to waste manpower on dangerous and work intensive tasks.   Physically, Ogres stand head and shoulders above all the civilized races, and often at twice their girth. Ogres have a well deserved reputation for being dim-witted and slow of thought, having problems with memorization, creative thinking and even achieving basic literacy. A lot of people even go so far as to liken them to beasts of burden that learned how to speak. Ogres are heavily muscled and often develop a layer of fat and blubber that serves as both natural insulation and natural armour against attacks, these factors make them extremely dangerous even when poorly equipped, and very well suited to live in inhospitable climates and regions.
Lifespan: Ogres can live up to a hundred and mature at the same rate as humans.
Size: Ogres stand between three and four meters tall, usually weighing between 400-1000kg's.
