Rime, Hoar & Verglast

The Triplet gods of ice, cold and winter are known as cruel and sadistic gods, known to offer no blessings or divine powers without sacrifice, and prone to punish those who invoke their names carelessly. Despite their unlikeable nature, worship of the trio is widespread in areas of the world that suffer from harsh winters, where it is well known that those who fail to give the three their due at the start of winter will find their homes snowed in, roofs leaking, windows cracked and blizzards at the most inopportune moments.   The clergy of the trio shun the lavish temples and trappings of other gods, living in ramshackle shacks at the outskirts of towns and dressing simply, often going mistaken for regular laborers. Few willingly choose to serve the triplets, instead they select their clergy by direct divine intervention, forcing mortals into their service seemingly at random, often creating embittered priests that curse their divine patrons as often as they preach their teachings.   Despite this, or perhaps because of it, priests of the trio enjoy an unusual amount of favor from their patron gods, and those who slight or do harm upon them often find themselves beset by sudden hailstorms, blizzards and snap freezes.   As invoking the names of the triplets tends to turn their wrathful attention on people, they are usually referred to by their titles or other monikers, with some calling them the "Dark Triune" though, usually not in earshot of clergy who follow the triune gods.
