The Prophet
The Prophet is the enigmatic patron deity of true prophets and seers everywhere. It is said that his eye gazes upon all those who have successfully foretold the future, and it is well known that he refuses to grant any miracles to those who are unable to perform the most basic auguries.
His worshippers are scattered far and wide and never organized. They range from a village wisdom foretelling when the rain will be good for harvest, to doomsayers braying the end of civilization, to secluded wizards trying to grasp the secrets of time itself. Common among worshippers of The Prophet is either an almost fatalistic acceptance of fate and a resignation to the myth of free will, or a stubborn refusal to accept what might be and desperate attempts to manipulate the future. This duality of the faith has even led to several small-scale conflicts between different sects.
This loose organization makes the name of The Prophet a ripe mark for charlatans and tricksters, using the reputation of the god to ply their mundane craft for the sake of tricking coin from unwary people.
On Aelcantar, The Prophet has only a small following, some even believe it does not exist at all as almost universally all who claim to be true seers of The Propet have foretold grim calamity for nearly a century now without one manifesting.
