War of the Stars
The War of the Stars is the common name for the war between the gods that ended with the Three being in sole control of the heavens.
It began in the year 160 BGF, when all of the clerics of Markethoran, god of the working classes, suddenly heard a great cry of pain and surprise. It echoed in their minds for days, even driving some of the more powerful clerics mad for a time. Every last one of them knew in their hearts that their god was dead.
The people of the world were filled with fear and a dreadful foreboding. Markethoran was the most widely worshiped deity on all of Aeleon. And none could provide answers as to what had happened.
It was followed in the year 154 BGF, with the sudden silence of Peth'foran, goddess of nature, druids and rangers. None know for sure what happened. All that is remembered is that druids and rangers the world over suddenly felt their connection to nature drastically weaken. The master of the Feylein Circle itself fell sick and died within days. And prayer after prayer went unanswered. by 150 BGF, it was clear to all that Peth'foran was no more.
Over the next few years, her death was followed by the deaths of Tethn, Vanar, Pfor and Wuthar.
By 140 BGF, the peoples of Aeleon were in a state of chaos. Six of the gods had died. The world was being thrown into imbalance.
Over the next few decades, more and more of the gods vanished. By the year 11 BGF, only four of the old gods remained: Kepent, Pektonae, Nign and Caipharos.
These last four gods made a pact. They set aside all differences and united their followers and themselves together in an effort for mutual protection. None of them knew what had happened to the others. From that time onward, the four of them spent every moment together. If their end was coming, they would face it together. And for the nearly 10 years there was peace in the world, and in the heavens.
Despite this peace, however, there were growing rumors. Stories about new gods began to emerge. Despite the best efforts off their servants, they could not learn anything about these new gods. Finally, 2 years before The Great Fall, the new gods and their follows showed themselves. Armies, hundreds of thousands strong, marched across the world of Aeleon and through the heavens above.
The last four and their followers were entirely unprepared for this assault. Regardless, they fought on. For two years they held out, fighting retreating battles both on Aeleon and in the heavens. At the end, only the nations of Aldis Tre and Talaras held out to the end. And what an end it was.
The four had gathered all their might for a final stand in heaven. Their followers gathered for a final stand on Ma'urwol. And that was when it happened: The Great Fall.
When it was done, Aldis Tre had ceased to exist and Talaras was shattered. In a matter of minutes, millions died on Aeleon. And none knew what happened in the heavens. All they knew was the the last four old gods were gone. Only The Three remained.
