Hat'aellor
Hat'aellor is the name of a great library located in the city of Shimmerwind on Reshyk. In Aurum, the name literally translates to "knowledge of Aellor", and is the grandest, most complete library in all of Aellorah. The library boasts a collection of nearly every tome ever written on the subject of magic, as well as practically every other subject you could want to know. It is operated by a group known as the Veskim Nul, which literally translates to "inquisition of nothing", but is interpreted to mean something more along the lines of "inquisition that seeks to leave no knowledge unknown". They believe that knowledge is the only way to truly connect to Aellor, and that they do service to her by finding secrets and lost knowledge. They even have a more complete catalogue of documented Wellspring anomalies than the Sorcerer's Cabal itself, though this is partially because the Cabal has a limited, Dwarven-only presence in Reshyk, so they aren't able to catalogue anomalies on the frozen continent.
The Veskim Nul's agents, known as "The Empty", search the world for knowledge missing from the library to bring home, and are directly funded by Reshyk's monarchy.
Because books age just like mortals do, one of the first and most important Runetech inventions was a simple device that could record knowledge contained within books and transfer the knowledge to the mind of the one wielding the device. This allows The Empty to read the contents of a book without potentially destroying books that have been weathered due to time. This device is called a "Flowscribe", and is paired with another Runetech device which has the ability to not only read information from books like the Flowscribe does, but it has the ability to store the vast amount of information recorded by Flowscribes by reading the information from the minds of The Empty.
