Void Silk
Description
Void Silk is a very situationally useful material that is popular among those in the criminal world. It is a type of cloth that is made by taking silk from silk worms and treating it with a pigment solution created from mashed, fermented Umbraberries. This cloth is fairly easy to produce and highly sought after by hunters and those of illegal professions, as the total matte appearance it gives the cloth allows one to blend in more easily in dense areas such as forests, sewers, caves, and other dark interior areas. However, in wide-open spaces such as fields or city streets, you'll stick out like a sore thumb, looking like an unnaturally dark shadow or silhouette.
D&D 5e Game Mechanics
Here are some effects that a garment made from Void Silk might impart on the wearer:
- Someone wearing a cloak made from Void Silk would have advantage on saving throws against spells like Faerie Fire that make them easier to see.
- Provides advantage to stealth checks made in dark interior environments or in dense forests.
- The fabric sticks out more to creatures with Darkvision, so the stealth bonus does not apply to these creatures when within their Darkvision range.
- In brightly lit or even just wide-open areas, creatures have advantage on Perception checks relying on sight to spot you while you wear this.
- Can be magically enhanced to produce items such as Invisibility Cloaks.
