Whisperwood

Whisperwood is a type of wood that grows in pockets of forest among larger forests in Reshyk. The forests that it is found in can be extremely unnerving due to the special properties of the wood. Whisperwood has the ability to absorb sound -- so, forests in which it can be found are usually dead silent due to the tree absorbing the sounds of the wind blowing, wildlife, twigs snapping... and predators. The wood itself is not hard to harvest, but its presence can often mask the sounds of predators roaming the area which can make it hazardous to do so. However, this also means that the predators will not hear you harvesting it in sufficiently dense forests.

The applications of Whisperwood are very specific, so it is mostly used to dampen sound in chambers where discretion is important, and as a sole for specialized boots that allow someone to move more silently. It can even be used as the scabbard for a dagger or sword so that it can be drawn completely silently. This obviously makes it a highly desirable material for thieves and rogues, but fetches a moderate price due to the relative danger of harvesting it. It is exported to places like The Commonwealth, but generally is only found in Greentide.
