Basilisk Snake

The Basilisk Snake is a massive serpent that roams the deepest and darkest corners of the world. It is said to be the ancestor or cousin to the basilisk lizard, sharing its ability to petrify those who meet its gaze. However, unlike its lizard cousin, the Basilisk Snake is not content with merely turning its prey to stone. Its venom is equally as deadly, capable of killing even the hardiest of creatures within moments.   The Basilisk Snake's venom is a potent mixture of toxins that attack the nervous system, causing paralysis and eventually death. Its fangs are long and curved, capable of delivering the venom deep into its prey's body with a single bite. Those who survive a bite from a Basilisk Snake are said to be forever changed, their bodies wracked with pain and their minds tormented by haunting visions of death and decay.   But the Basilisk Snake's most fearsome weapon is its gaze. Those who meet its eyes are turned to stone, frozen in a pose of eternal terror. It is said that the only way to avoid the gaze of the Basilisk Snake is to look at it through a mirror or other reflective surface. Even then, the creature's hypnotic stare can linger in the mind, haunting its victim long after they have escaped its grasp.   Despite its deadly nature, the Basilisk Snake has been sought after by alchemists and dark magicians for centuries. Its venom and scales are prized ingredients in many powerful potions and spells, and those brave enough to face the creature have been known to emerge with great wealth and knowledge. However, such pursuits are incredibly dangerous, and most who seek the Basilisk Snake never return.
