Personal history
Son to a killed father, Roryr an Koning was born the proud son of great ancestors, his father's side was the famed an Konings, the most prestigious of Iolan clans who could trace their ancestry back to Jarl Haakon Magni who himself was a descendant of Jorundr Hrafnsvarinn, "The Raven Sworn" and one of the Hunassens who defeated the sons of King Markinen and forged his own lands in the years after the successful Iolan migrations north. From Roryr's mother's side came Hrista, the famed shieldmaiden whose exploits on the peninsula brought her from the shores of Holvika, to the upper reaches of Drauheim and beyond to the frozen shores of Hvítrjördland where she founded a colony of exclusively warrior women.
The blood of Roryr ran with the blood of legends and the Jarl would not disappoint as he quickly became known to his people as epitomizing the stereotypical Iolan warlord. Roryr was strong, brave, and daring in his decisions, he would balk at no challenge and beat his name into the memory of every skald of his day. However, this future was not guaranteed as Roryr faced a challenging childhood after the murder of his father months before his birth, cared for initially by his mother, the famed maiden Hjavora before being taken in by her brother Jarl Skard who became the boy's guardian and pseudo father in replacement of his departed brother in law. Under Jarl Skard, Roryr accompanied his uncle on the seasonal raids into the lands of the Prus and the Sturmares even going so far as to ride the Soklyraka river and besiege the city of Orozred before being driven away by another pair of famous figures, Lech Orbanik, the sitting head of the Sjem and the city's garrison commander Kazimierz Maurek. During these early years, Jarl an Koning distinguished himself as an Iolan raider to be feared, his Prus enemies called him "Medved Meurksoy" or the Sea Bear. Aware of his reputation, Roryr had the Long Dragon's bow sculpted with the image of a bear. When the Jarl's longship clashed with another ship during a raid, the bear was said to emanate a low rumble as if it were roaring.
Roryr learned and lived a great deal under the tutelage of his famed uncle and when the time came when Skard no longer served as a regent Roryr ascended to his place as Jarl of his people and continued to serve in a similar manner as his uncle who advised and acted as his nephew's trusted 2nd in command. Now sitting on the throne of his birthright, Roryr energized the long traditional and conservative aspects of his realm, he encouraged more egalitarian practices which saw more notable women become key figures in his court, and sought to promote martial values for the women and girls of his realm. This compounded and within a decade, Húsavík raiders became notorious for their large contingents of fierce shieldmaidens drawing the ire of more conservative Jarldoms. Also in the first few years of his rule, Roryr married Natalia Tsalova, a Davniak princess famed for her beauty whom Roryr had met while visiting her father's encampment during his raiding of the heartland of the Sokoly. Roryr was head over heels for his foreign wife and while she was initially distant, she soon warmed up to him after seeing the kindness and gentleness he would always treat her with. The couple would go on to have 5 children, two girls named Irina and Elena, and three boys named Haakon, Olav, and Sigi.
Never one to abandon his duty, Roryr has continued his policy of unscrupulous raiding of the Prus shore and the western mainland of the Herodi while maintaining his status at home as a well-respected and honorable leader whose domestic affairs have been on maintaining peace between his realm and the realms of other Jarls while mediating disputes as a third party whenever necessary.
Today, Jarl Roryr an Koning remains a towering figure in Iolan affairs, his realm remains a powerful eastern domain in contrast to the squabbles of his western contemporaries of Holvika and Sigurík. Jarl an Koning has informally created a cavalcade of treaties and alliances with many of the minor clans neighboring him and talk is beginning that an Koning wishes to crown his son Haakon as King of Iola one day.

Religious Views
Devoted to the gods, Jarl an Koning has continued the traditional worship of the gods held so dear to the Iolan people. His patron is Ranir who he calls on to grant him his wisdom and guide his family and his people to a prosperous future.
Social Aptitude
Respectful, attentive, and always energetic, Jarl an Koning is everything a northern Jarl should be and just a little more. His love for his only wife is well known, as is the love he shows to his children and his people both in equal measure. Never as dour as he is sometimes made out to be, the Jarl is a lover of song and poetry and will always use this as an excuse to throw great feasts at his fortress of Triermac.
Mannerisms
Never one to shirk the appearance as an Iolan ruler, many feasts and banquets of raucous celebration have been held at an Koning's keep in Húsavík. While remaining a dignified supervisor of these affairs, Jarl an Koning always drinks his hearty fill and sings his heart out whenever the time comes.
Speech
Jarl an Koning speaks in a manner similar to other Iolans west of the Black Mountains, here the tongues of various other mainland peoples can be heard. Jarl an Koning speaks with a somewhat lighter and more dignified voice than one might expect from such a large and imposing man.

History
To be frank, both men despise one another as clan rivalries have helped fan the flames made of simple animosity the two men share for one another. While Jarl an Koning is sensible, level-headed and prudent, Jarl Hugin is anything but sane, a madman made flesh willing to do anything to accomplish his aims and kill anyone standing between him and his goals.
