Prizgasts

The roaming specters commonly found in deep woodlands, foggy bogs, or famously roaming the night sky.

Basic Information

Biological Traits

Prizgasts are a specific type of powerful specter that has greater ties to the world of the living than normal specters. This close bond with the living world makes them very powerful beings as physically they may appear like any normal human but possess the strength of ten men or more. They aren't as able to phase through objects as much as a normal specter but they are able to interact with the world more in ways not normal for many ghosts.

Additional Information

Facial characteristics

Most Prizgasts are quite frightening to look at, with either bloodshot eyes or bloody tears, the sight of a Prizgast is enough to induce sheer panic on a witness.

Geographic Origin and Distribution

Spread quite evenly throughout the world, Prizgasts are among the most feared monsters for common folk and lords alike as there is very little one can do to stop them besides some flimsily known spells and other acts that aren't very well tested.

Average Intelligence

Prizgasts are quite perceptive and very attune with their surroundings, again unlike specters and ghosts who are quite clumsy in comparison.

Civilization and Culture

Major Language Groups and Dialects

Certain Prizgasts are said to speak old versions of their corresponding languages, for example Rasenna Legionaries are said to speak in very old Lakic which is hard to understand nearly a thousand years after their deaths.

History

Stories of ghostly specters and shapes have always been a constant in the world, Prizgasts, however, are a wholly different animal as they tend to take the form of physically armed individuals such as soldiers, sailors, or a posse. Stories and encounters have become more numerous in the decades and centuries after the Dykairos of ghost processions of Rasennan legionaries blowing their Cornu and marching in an orderly fashion in the dead of night. Sometimes the legionnaires are ambivalent to surrounding witnesses, but sometimes they turn to the witness and dispatch them with a swing of their sword before again setting off in the dead of night on their march. Perhaps the most famous example of Prizgasts are the nightly procession of Schadr's Hunt, a posse of ghostly hunters who ride the night sky looking for prey and who routinely kidnap unattended children and carry them off into the sky never to be seen again except for the occasional impaled child on the top of trees. Schadr himself is the leader of the hunt and a prominent figure who inspires terror as he silently glides through the moonlight night eternal.
Genetic Descendants
Body Tint, Colouring and Marking
Much more opaque and visible than ghosts and specters, Prizgasts are known to carry a specified tint in their appearance and while this is not a known variable in their biology it does help in identifying them.
