Shafts of Light

Kyra stood on the hilltop, wind throwing her deep blue coat behind her. She reached out with her mind and found... something. It felt so alien, and yet so familiar. Light blossomed in her mind, filling her with pure wonderment. Eyes blazing with green fire of vengeance, she reached her hand to the heavens, and used this new Power. White fire coursing through her, she pointed at the ranks upon ranks of foul beasts. Soft wind swirled among them, a portent of what was to come. The beasts realized this too late. Where air twirled, thick shafts of pure light shot down from the sky, burning, searing, destroying everything they touched. Kyra twisted her hand, and the spires of power expanded, boiling the flesh of the beasts. She drew in more, drinking the light, embracing the light, becoming the light. A roar filled the air, coming from nowhere, but being heard everywhere. It grew louder, and louder, and still louder. Ears splitting, the beasts turned and began to run. Not fast enough. One massive, final shaft of white energy pierced the earth, sending a rippling shockwave. Then it was gone. All was silent. Kyra fell to her knees, exhausted. Of the beasts, nothing was left. In their place was a seared, blackened depression, a smooth half dome in the ground. Smoke rose from it, and not even the ravens could find any remnants of the beasts.

Effect

Thick spears of light lancing down from the sky.

Side/Secondary Effects

More powerful users can alter the magic slightly to expand the shafts after landing, causing damage in a wider area.

Manifestation

The light follows tiny soft whirlwinds on the ground, perhaps disrupting dust or leaves. At this point, more powerful versions would be accompanied by a loud roar with no source. From the sky, shafts of pure energy lance down on the spots the whirlwinds were.

The Gods are the source of all power and magic. Specifically, only those who can draw power from Lyssonadial, Lord of Light, can create these pillars of energy.

Discovery

Kyra Alkrose discovered this use of power when accidentally channeling the power of Lyssonadial. She was the first person to be able to channel Lyssonadial's power.

When learning a new use of power, the hand motions learned at the same time stick, until one cannot to that thing without those hand motions. For the first use of this power, Kyra reached to the sky, then brought her hand down to point where she wanted to place the power.
