Dr. Rayfield Smit

Rayfield Smit was the lead scientist of Echelon Consort, a research group that openly pursued the "next stage of human evolution" at any cost. He was killed by Bolkos Norvison in 22 PR, but had anticipated his own death and found numerous ways to live on, primarily through the mind of his former apprentice, Triquiis Fenwyn.
