Eoghan Siegfried Sonder (OH-WEN SIGG-FREED SAWN-DER)

Firstborn son of Landyn II and Laoise Kindellan-Sonder, thus the successor to the title Duke of Ukwam. Eoghan was named by his mother, who fought to give him an Aerdan name rather than calling him Landyn III; he is interchangeably referred to as Eoghan and Siegfried, depending on who is speaking to him, though he prefers Siegfried.

Backstory

Childhood

Birth

Siegfried was fortunate enough to be born in a time of peace. He has enjoyed the many benefits this grants, with little more than the occasional rebellion or bandit attack in the Duchy of Ukwam threatening the apparent tranquility in the region.

Curiosity

As Eoghan Siegfried got older, his formal education—a privilege afforded only to nobles and the few others able to afford it—did not capture enough of his attention, and so his curiosities got the better of him. He started to research topics beyond his curriculum (especially those that were forbidden in Ukwam) that interested him. It was difficult to get his hands on materials, and they, of course, needed to be disposed of after he was finished. With the time allotted to him to study such works, though, he learned a great deal about forbidden magics, battles that were rarely spoken of, and even religions beyond the Prismatic Church.

Adolescence

The closer Siegfried has gotten to taking over the role of Duke upon his father’s passing, the more he has found himself drawn to things beyond that role. He’s even made friend with a gardener beyond the castle walls, Lorcan Vine, an Aerdan bastard. Lorcan has shown him the seedy underbelly of Ukwam City, taking him to the grittiest dive bars and even getting new scrolls and books that Siegfried requests (for coin, of course). The frequency of this debauchery has only increased in recent months, as Siegfried’s brother Artyom’s wedding draws nearer.

The greatest opportunity for such things presented itself in the Duchy of Kilsiini, where Viorica Haglund would show Eoghan Siegfried a truly roarin’ good time in the lowest parts of their grand city, her family being especially well-versed in gambling, drinking, and even drug use (and distribution). Whatever Eoghan wanted to find, Viorica could find it for him.
