Family Tensions Arise
Life, Relationship change
The other Basaran siblings began to expect that they would get a cut of the Northland from Mirnov and Karina, but the rebellious siblings had other plans, intending to keep it all for themselves as their own kingdom. This led to Fainarr's first civial war in history.
While Mirnov and Karina's conquest of the northlands of Elzveir was very nearly complete, their siblings back home were starting to pursue their "cut" of the winnings, expecting land, treasure, and thralls from the successful decade-long campaign of their family members. Mirnov and Karina, however, had other ideas. In the third month of the 161st year, Karina and Mirnov outright denied any claim that their siblings--including King Hafiz II--had to their victory. This led King Hafiz II to declare that Fainarr was at war with his brother and sister.
Aldurstein Established
As part of their declaration that the northlands belonged explicitly to them, Mirnov and Karina renamed the northlands to Aldurstein, paying homage to the white dragon Aldurturax who had been slain there some time ago; this was seen as a show of good faith to the Prismatic Church despite the disdain the siblings held for their homeland. They also began excavating from the mines in the mountain range henceforth called the Spine of Aldur, acquiring a vast fortune of sapphires, diamonds, and other gems which they exported to various nations for considerable profit. This mine would prove a significant source of wealth to Aldurstein for quite some time, being dubbed
Kardmen Deep henceforth.
Alliances Formed
Realizing that they were positioned between Fainarr and the rebellious siblings, leaders of Miliim, Copari, and Kathaya formed an alliance of neutrality, stating that they would see
any movement through their borders from
either side of the feud as an act of aggression. The
Free Cities of Suorr had always been neutral in most or all conflicts, and reiterated as much, stating that they would not take entering any of their cities by military forces lightly. This prevented forces from reaching Mirnov and Karina by land, except by trudging through the snow and ice from east to west, making Fainarr's chances of success limited.
