White Iron Siege

White Iron Siege is the name given to the first battle of the Elin civil war, also known as the White Iron Dragon Dance. It was a conflict between the allied Elin forces made up of the Chykov and Ungar armies of 11,700 and fleet of 115 led by Great Jarl Sven I Chykov riding the white dragon Dreadwinter, Princess Illian Chykov and Jarl Jerat Ungar commanding the fleet; and the rebel Morholv and Barron armies of 10,000 and fleet of 175 led by Jarl Devon Morholv riding the blue dragon Icepick, Jarl Moldrite Barron, and Denton Morholv commanding the fleet, and the Chykov and Ungar.

The Conflict

The Engagement

Day 1
In the early morning, Devon Morholv's ships attack from the lake while Devon took wing on his blue dragon Icepick, and Moldrite Barron led the armies to strike frome the north. When the horns were called and the battle committed Great Jarl Sven I, riding the white dragon Dreadwinter, chased after the blue dragonboth dodging artillery scorpion bolts while dashing through the air.   The two dragons being of similar size the battle was equally fought, again and again they clashed in claw raking, fang biting flurries; occasionally disengaging to rain fire down on the battlefield, adding to the carnage below. The Chykov armies, led by Princess Illian Chykov, held their lines as the enemy slammed into them, the archers shooting over the ranks at the onrunning forces. While the fleets engaged, the larger 85 Chykov fleet circling north and to the right rained flaming arrows and maji cast lightning or flame, while the smaller but more numerous 175 Morholv fleet tried to swarm and board theother vessels. Many ships burned on the White Iron Lake as Icepick and Dreadwinter continued to attack both sides. by the end of the day a third of each fleet had been destroyed.

Day2

Though their land army was still months away, by the second day the Ungar fleet, led by Jerat Ungar had arrived and attacked from the south and beat back another third of Morholv's ships by mid-day. But, though the battle on the lake was going in the Great Jarl's favor, the battle on the ground was going ill. The Chykov lines hadn't broken, but they were begining to thin. However, without clear lines of attack in the brutal melee, the mages on the back lines took to attacking each other's ranks, the Chykov maji slowly widdled away at their inferior numbered counterparts. All the while the white and blue dragons clashed and battled in the sky.   By the afternoon the battle was still raging, all fronts fully engaged. On the water the Ungar ships pushed back the Morholv fleet, but only 24 of the original 85 ships of the Chykovs were left, the rest having been either burned, overrun, or sunk. On land the Chykov lines weakened but continued to hold. That was until Princess Illian was caught in a jet of dragonfire when Icepick dove on the line. Soon after, the Chykov lines quickly broke and the soldiers turned in full retreat back to the city.   After the initial battle the Chykov forces sealed Froya's gates and kept the walls manned at all times, intending to wait out the fairly battered enemy forces and hold until their Ungar reinforcements arrived. For the next five months, during the seige, the dragon's continued fighting dailey above the city.

Outcome

Along with most of the fleet, Grand Jark Sven I's forces lost a total of 4,840, including his first daughter Crown Princess Illian Chykov, and commander of the Chykov armies, Rainier Chykov, Kyltier Chykov   On the rebel's side many more Great Family members died, namely Devon Morholv's second son Lander Morholv, and Moldrite Barron's first born Nyle Barron.
