Despite being the first-born child of King Ymir Vrostson, women are not allowed to inherit titles or positions of power in the North if there is a suitable male heir. Despite this, her father decided to train her as a warrior. Ysra, large and affectionately known as the she-bear, was naturally inclined towards combat. She is a fierce warrior that resents not being able to inherit the title. Regardless, she serves as a trusted adviser to her father and often represents him as a diplomat and agent. She also has been known to lead troops on missions.
