John Dinkster

A man with a mysterious past filled with mistakes and crime, John Dinkster is a man seeking redemption. While much of his past is unknown, Dinkster spent a lot of time working with and around sailors, running cargo, helping merchant ships, and other things of the like. It was during this time that he met and fell in love with a girl named Kasey. The two quickly wed and had a child, lovingly named John Dinkster Jr (or "Dinklet"), and the two would reside in the lovely market town of Jahal Cove whilst Dinkster was out working. While things were good for a while, as Dinkster continued to work with sailors, he found himself working with those of an increasingly less reputable sort, eventually delving into full-on piracy. It is during this time that he worked with (and then subsequently became enemies with) Chip McCormick and his group, the Skooma Divers. It is also during this time that Dinkster developed an unhealthy obsession with and reliance on the afrementioned drink, becoming addicted to Skooma.
After a few years of this, and some stints in and out of jail, Dinkster was caught and arrested after trying to steal the championship belt of famous luchadore El Macho, who was sitting ringside at his son's debut match. After this failed robbery (in which El Macho broke several ribs), Dinkster was thrown on a Royal Navy prison ship, set to be taken off and imprisoned. However, upon meeting a few fellow criminals, along with a sympathetic Navy sailor who was already intent on defecting, Dinkster escaped and managed to safely make his way back to Jahal. After trekking through the island to reach Jahal Cove, Dinkster received a letter from Kasey, stating her intention to take their son back to her family's home in Naktal, not wanting to see Dinkster again until he had fully cleaned up his act.
Spurred by his desire to reunite with his family (and mildly traumatized from an encounter with a Mind Flayer), Dinkster has been vigilant in his efforts to keep himself on the straight and narrow, swearing off skooma completely. Now with a renewed goal and sense of purpose, Dinkster has been an invaluable ally to his newfound friends.
