Genasi

Civilization and Culture

Major Organizations

After fighting side by side with the Navy during the Incursion many genasi joined the organization. They now make up the second largest group in the Navy.

Beauty Ideals

Genasi prefer to highlight their natural element in their appearance, the more obvious and impressive the better.

Courtship Ideals

City ganasi are very informal when it comes to courting, and deal little with long rituals or traditions. For village genasi courting is a much more formal affair, especially because males and females live in separate villages. There are certain times during the year which the two groups can meet and find potential partners.

Major Language Groups and Dialects

Elemental

Common Dress Code

Earth genasi tend towards earth tones and more practical clothing. Air genasi prefer light, flowing clothing that moves with air currents around their bodies. Fire genasi wear bright colors and aggressive designs. Water genasi wear minimal clothing, as it tends to be a hindrance when working in water.

Culture and Cultural Heritage

Air genasi are proud of their heritage, sometimes to the point of haughtiness. They can be flamboyant, and are keen to have an audience. They rarely stay in one place for long, always looking for a new sky to see and breathe. Air genasi who don’t live in cities favor open lands.   Earth genasi are more withdrawn, and their connection to the earth keeps them from being comfortable in most cities. Their uncommon size and strength makes them natural soldiers, though, and with their stoic demeanor, they can encourage others and become great leaders. Many earth genasi live underground, where they can be in their favored element. When they emerge from their caves, they might roam the hills or lay claim to old ruins.    Fire genasi often get themselves into difficulty with their fiery tempers. Like their air genasi cousins, they sometimes flaunt their perceived superiority over common folk. But they also want others to share their high opinion of themselves, so they constantly seek to enhance their reputations.   Water genasi almost all have some experience aboard or around sea vessels. They make excellent mariners and fishers. Like earth genasi, though, water genasi prefer quiet and solitude; the wide shores are their natural homes. They go where they want, do what they want, and rarely feel bound to anything.

Common Customs, Traditions and Rituals

Genasi tend to be of two minds about where to live. Some genasi live within large cities among the other races, while others live in isolated villages with only other genasi. For those that live in villages it is common to have one male and one female village that exist in close proximity and share a symbiotic relationship with one another.

History

The genasi came into being during the Incursion. A group of humans was chosen by the gods to fight back. They were infused with the power of the elements and sent to the front lines with the then newly formed Navy. After the Incursion the people found their new forms and powers did not go away and they gave themselves the new name, genasi.

Interspecies Relations and Assumptions

City genasi generally have good relations with the other races, while village genasi tend to be more reluctant about interacting with those outside their race.
