The Serpent Hunt
History
The town of Broadton had been founded merely north of a huge beached and dying Sea Serpent, which was said to have been the first time humans encountered these beasts. A group of human travelers who had found the creature, felt a connection to its size and strength, but also deep sorrow for it to die under these circumstances.
With their competitive nature the first clan members settled nearby and made it their goal to conquer these beasts and adept to their nature, while paying them the respect they deserve.

Execution
The clan leader of the Serpent Clan is chosen every year during this epic fishing contest called "The Serpent Hunt" or "Sjöormsjakt". The candidates hunt the Sea Serpents that lurk in the waters of the coast between Broadton and the wild waters around Anwynn alone with their self crafted boats. After a successful kill the local fishermen help to drag the corpses to the shore to be measured and cleaned for materials, meat and trophies. Many of the smaller bones are used for tools, the medium sized for boat parts because of their light weight. The largest bones are added to the leading families hut, making to grow every year in size.
The hunter of the largest catch is crowned the new clan leader for the upcoming year during a huge feast, where he tells the (hopefully epic) story of his hunt. During the upcoming week a new boat is crafted for him of the materials from his Serpent by the best town craftsmen. The former head of the clan sends offerings out to the sea with their old vessle, to thank Calinor for keeping them save and the Serpents.
During the whole contest it is considered dishonorable to kill any young of the beasts, and will lead to an immediate ban from this and every following hunt.
