Species

Most of the species listed in the Player’s Handbook are available to use in this campaign setting with the following exceptions:

Elf, High (the Assarall)

Elves are present in the world of Aerith, however Wood Elves are the most common by far. Most of the High Elves (the Assarall) left the continent of Aerith during the Sundering, however, a number of High Elves were either left behind or did not agree with their people’s decision to leave Aerith and so stayed behind. In doing so, however, these remnants of a people find themselves without a history and a land they can call home. After a thousand years, this remnant has integrated well into human society and is trusted as much as anyone else by most except their cousins—the Wood Elves—who cannot see past the actions of the Assarall who almost destroyed the continent out what amounted to little more than a temper tantrum. Simmering tensions are almost always present when both High and Wood Elves are involved in the same situation.

Elf, Dark

This subrace of elf is found only in the tunnels of the dwarves in Baerdid. Their very existence is only a rumor to most. Even among the dwarves, they are few and far between. An offshoot of the High Elves left behind during the Sundering, the Dark Elves have adapted to their subterranean home. They feel the betrayal of the skyward kin deeply, the pain and loss often evident in their demeanor.

Dragonborn

The Dragonborn found in the Player’s Handbook do not exist in the world of Aerith. This is fortunate, for they would be considered offspring of the Demons and find themselves shunned and/or attacked on sight.

Half-Orc

Half-orcs also do not exist in Aerith as there are no orcs to have descended from.

Tiefling

As descendants of infernal demons, Tieflings do not exist in Aerith… unless the Demons have somehow escaped their prison in the Forbidden Lands.
