Kurglestrike Tribe

The Kurglestrike Tribe is a standard, small Dragonkin tribe that resides in the mountains east of Stonebridge. They are atypical of mountain tribes, in that they do not keep very permanent homes, where most mountain tribes tend to stay in one place, secure in their location. The Kurglestrike maintains a few different locations and travels to them periodically throughout the year.

Structure

The ruling of the tribe is standard for most Dragonkin tribes, where a Drakor rules over the tribe, taking advice and getting support from her three leaders; the Nurturer, the Militant, and the Crafter. Korin Kurglestrike is the current leader and he has the support and respect of most of his tribe. He defers to the other leaders as is necessary but he will take control when it warrants it. It rarely does.     The Kurglestrike tribe is unusual in that it has two Half-Dragon leaders, Korin the Drakor, and Suava the Nurturer. Typically, one of the Half-Dragons would go and found another tribe but Suava has no intention of leaving and the respect and admiration she has from the rest of the tribe is unequaled in other tribes. Korin and Suava are extremely loyal to each other, and most believe they are in love. While they have not officially made any claims to each other, it is generally accepted that they are, or will be mates.
  • Drakor: Korin Kurglestrike, Blue Half-Dragon Voice of Drakova
  • Nurturer: Suava Scalemother, Silver Half-Dragon Guardian of the Hatchery
  • Militant: Khoras Stoneshield, Blue Dragonborn Master of Arms
  • Crafter: Zintack Rockblossom, Bronze Dragonborn Masterwork Crafter.

Culture

The members of the Kurglestrike Tribe are typical of other Dragonkin tribes in that they believe they are superior to other races, having been gifted their blessings from Ilbrendar and Drakova. They maintain the same structure of the Tribe, with the Drakor as the leader, and the three subordinate leaders of Nurturer, Militant, and Crafter rounding out the head of the tribe.   Kurglestrike Dragonkin tend to wander more than other mountain tribes, establishing a couple semi-permanent locations that they can easily defend and set up their camp. Their Crafter Zintack Rockblossom is expert at creating sturdy but easily transportable structures that work well in the caves of the mountainside, or near ledges or rocky faces.   The members of the Kurglestrike Tribe appreciate their neighbours and trade often with them. They rely on their scouts and warriors to roam the mountainside looking for danger, or finding food. They are trying to establish more of a diplomatic presence with Stonebridge, and some other villages and tribes in the area.   The hordes of the Kurglestrike tribe tend to be mostly in easily transportable gems, and many from the tribe are very interested in obtaining a wide variety of gems.   Each tribe member serves a function and is typically set on their path early on. Once that path is chosen they tend to maintain that path. There are some, however, that may go from role to role until they find the one that suits them and benefits the tribe the most.

History

Most recently the Kurglestrike was blessed with a Chosen of Drakova, named Shediin. A winged Urd that excelled at most things, and it was obvious from an early age that Shediin would represent his tribe with honour and great deeds. With smooth blue skin, and wings larger than most Urds they had seen, Shediin held the bearing of their matron. Korin and Suava made sure to offer Shediin as much guidance, experience, and teachings as they could, ensuring he had all the necessary tools to succeed and bring glory to their tribe.   His first posting was with the scouts, under Shrev Pathfinder. Shediin proved to be very loyal and had the health and well-being of the tribe at his heart. He made a number of friends during his time with the scouts, including a fellow Blue Kobold named Litin, a Bronze Dragonborn named Kalak, and a Silver Dragonborn named Shilla. In his dealings, however, he angered a fellow scout, Rhogar, by reporting him to their commanding officer Shrev. Before any sentencing could commence Rhogar left the tribe, named himself Silvertooth, and sought his fortunes elsewhere, but not before vowing vengeance on Shediin. Shediin was confident he made the right decision, knowing that the safety and security of the tribe was the most important thing.   Following his time with the scouts, Shediin was tasked with helping Suava in the Hatchery. He did very well there and made a friend while attending to his duties. A female Silver Dragon named Herissa was performing her duties as a caretaker to the young dragons that were just hatched, and her and Shediin made a great team. Suava was very happy with the arrangements and sought for ways to keep the two working together. Suava gave Shediin more duties that were increasingly more difficult and to her joy he performed them all splendidly.     Not too long after Korin and Suava sat down to discuss Shediin’s fate and it was determined that he should leave to learn about the outside world. Stonebridge would be a good start and Shediin would have to represent his tribe with dignity and pride.   Shediin left for Stonebridge and acquitted himself well with the guards there. Since that time, he has formed a new group with some new friends, including a Goliath, a Dwarf, a Human, and a fellow Dragonborn.

Territories

The Tribe resides in the mountains east of Stonebridge, and north of the Portalguard Chain. They manage to sustain their tribe with the meager vegetation the mountain provides, as well as what the hunters can bring back. Dragonkin hunters can travel very far without resting so they can bring back much game in one trip.

Military

The scouts of the Kurglestrike tribe are well-versed in their craft. As the Kurglestrike do not always stay in one place, the scouts are essential to finding safe paths, securing food and shelter, and keeping the tribe out of danger. They are good at hiding, tracking, and hit and run tactics. Many tribe members spend at least some time in the scouts to hone their skills and give back to the tribe. Those that choose to stay with the scouts are given positions of honour and respect.   Guardians of the tribe are also afforded great respect, particularly those that defend the Hatchery. Their role is less glamorous than the scouts but no less important. The Kurglestrike tribe prefer the use of spears or other polearms, with the scouts choosing smaller versions and the guardians opting for larger weapons.

Laws

The order of the Drakor is law, and the ruling of the three leaders needs to be adhered to. The typical hierarchy of Dragonkin tribes is present with the Kurglestrike Tribe. Those who break the rules or the orders of the leaders risks being shunned or cast out of the tribe. Those who put their own needs ahead of the tribe will most surely be asked to leave. If the crime is particularly bad the perpetrator may be killed if the safety of the tribe is at risk.   Korin is a fair and just ruler and utilizes his subordinate leader frequently and without reservation. He likes to give everyone the benefit of the doubt but he is a keen judge of character and will sometimes make a definitive decision without consulting his leadership group. He is confident in his abilities and tries to foster the same in his Tribe.
