La' Venthus

This is the name ascribed to Narylin, or dark elves, that were alive during the event of The Severance. This event was when the Elves severed the dark elves from the Elven Cycle and grace of their gods. These individuals had their spiritual reveries ripped from their minds and souls. The horrifying experience can be attributed to how quickly the Narylin turned to madness and chaos, resulting in an unquenchable thirst for vengeance toward those that cursed them to sudden darkness. This event also granted these individuals unnaturally long life.
After time, these dark elves learned to live with the darkness, but never forgot the loss of that connection to their old elven gods. Very few have survived the long passage of time, but those that have are respected by all Narylin. To assault a member of La' Venthus is considered a heinous crime.
With their advanced age, they are not allowed to become royalty as it would threaten their survival. The magically gifted of them train priestesses and other aspiring pupils the ways of magic. The non-gifted rely on knowledge and history to advise those in power, though all La' Venthus are viewed as keepers of knowledge.
