Cleric
Clerics magic is directly taken from one of the deities or gods of the cosmos who gifts them power as their champion. Clerics differ from regular priests who can appeal to gods to grant them whispers of magical power by acting as the very champion of a deity granted potentially unending access to their strength.
Often times the god actively imparts a task or purpose upon their chosen cleric, unless the actions of their champion already fits within it. Clerics who stray from this will can have their powers revoked or face other punishment's from the divine force empowering them. Those Clerics who prove favoured by their patron deity are renown theologians and can wield substantial influence from the common folk.
Clerics do not understand the Arcan language unless through chosen study and instead channel magic through quotations of scripture and echoing words of the god's tenets and own speech.
Following the restriction and criminalisation of unauthorised magic in the empire Clerics continued to be legitimate magic users and, where proven to exist, enjoyed a saint like status among the clergy often rising to the position of Grand Cleric or leading grand expeditions, inquisitions or theological discoveries with the full backing of the church.
