Pale Ones

Pale Ones, sometimes called Godlings by the peasantry due to believed divine origin, are strange beings that can be found near some ancient castles, towns or settlements. Godlings appear as children with pale skin and large eyes with strangely coloured pupils. They dress in rags and other scavenged clothes with mischievous personalities that thrive off minor trickery like rearranging books in a library. Pale Ones, while initially a source of shock are soon embraced by communities for their benevolent nature often using restorative magic to aid the wounded and ill, repair buildings or save suffering crops. Why they do such things is largely a mystery and when asked they tend to give childish jokes as answers.   Pale Ones are created by the use of a complex spell designed to restore life to children. The spell involves the removing of the child’s heart and replacing it with a new heart made from twigs and a selection of rare alchemical ingredients. If accepted the soul of the child will return to their body and they will come alive an immortal pale creature with no memory of their parents or past life but the same personality. For unknown reasons Pale Ones tend to stay in one place for eternity but can move on if faced with physical violence viewing any verbal abuse as cruel but misguided.
