Thror

The Unconquered, the Unbowed, the Unbreakable! The everlasting Dominion of the Great Dwarven Clans of Thror are truly a powerful force of industry and security. What keeps that security in place is the unwavering authority of the Kings and Queens of Thror. King Elric and Queen Winry of Clan Silverheart are gracious and tactical. Their pride in their nation is only equaled by their commitment to its continued prosperity. But, like many Dwarves, the King and Queen can be brusk and dismiss the needs of non-dwarves. They are not unkind, but their primary priority is clearly for the Dwarves of Thror, and they will not make compromises if they do not have to.   Mining, smithing, crafting, the industry of Thror is unequaled in all of Drayth. To get something “Dwarven Make” is to ensure its quality. Every item made by Dwarven hands carries that reputation, so perfection and improvement are always encouraged in the Dwarven communities.   Each of the clans focuses on a particular Industry, jewelry, armor, weapons, tools, masonry and so on. The leaders of the clans vie for influence by proclaiming great works and legendary accomplishments, their historical record is of utmost importance to their social status. This is why, should a Dwarf do something dishonorable or worse betray his clan, it would reflect poorly on the clan and hurt its chances to gain more political power. For this reason, loyalty, honor, and tradition are paramount to the Dwarven education. When a King and Queen have ruled for 50 years, the clans reunite to name a new King and Queen of Thror, usually the head couple of a different clan. The old Queen and King become advisors and retire in luxury, their names written into the record with much renown.   An interesting fact that makes them so Unbreakable is the secret location of their capital. Only Dwarves know how to find their way to Durinforge, as it is protected by an ancient magical spell. Thus, the only way enemy forces can find the Dwarven city is if a Dwarf willingly chooses to betray his people. Which has only rarely occurred and punished with incredible force.

History

For nearly 1000 years the Dwarves of Thror have kept these mountains and hills to the north in relative peace and prosperity. The first of their kind came to these mountains via a large network of underdark tunnels, fleeing the enslavement of their cousins by the giants. The vast amounts of rich minerals and the lack of civilized nation-states made it ideal for them to begin to create communities in Thror, eventually creating the Dominion. Never wanting to be ruled by any outside force, the Throran people did everything they could to build the defenses of their home and perfected their craftmenship. The cycle of houses keeps the people in power from overstepping, and the people are fanatically faithful to keeping Thror strong.
