Kalzamaath

Kalzamaath, is the dragon-god of Aesor, the Scion of the Heart and the Father of Mortals. Kalzamaath holds the most important place in the mythology and spirituality of Aesor and the Myst. Kalzamaath is believed to be the progenitor of the mortal races and the true source of life on Aesor itself.   Kalzamaath's divine saga commenced with the event known as the Awakening, which occurred in the Year 0. It is said that Kalzamaath emerged as a Scion, birthed by the pure and godly elements dwelling within the Heart of the Myst. This momentous event was triggered by the perpetual clash of two other Scions, Kyro and Arizen, the very same infinite source of power that birthed the Shattered Light. While the historical records of these occurrences are scarce, they persist in the collective memory of Aesorian inhabitants.   Legend has it that Kalzamaath, in the earliest days of existence, molded the mortal races from its own flesh and bones. While the specifics of these ancient events remain shrouded in mystery, this narrative endures as a common belief among Aesorian cultures. Despite the prevalence of these foundational myths, public knowledge concerning Kalzamaath remains limited. The contemporary actions and presence of the dragon-god are subjects of uncertainty. Mortals that do not believe the tales of the Abbey of the Óhin, are left to speculate about the nature of Kalzamaath's involvement in their lives and the world.   Kalzamaath is predominantly worshipped under the title of the Óhin. This divine aspect represents the concept of the common good—a neutral god who does not favor any particular nation or individual race. The Óhin's essence embodies a desire for progress and benefit for all living. The Óhin's teachings transcend boundaries and prejudices. Even those engaged in acts of aggression, like the Volkran'dur of Zhor, may profess belief in the Óhin. Similarly and strangely, a peaceful Ephyran drunida can share common ground in their faith, showcasing the deity's universal appeal.   Within academic circles, Kalzamaath is closely associated with the concept of the Slumbering, which profoundly affects Aesor and the Shattered Light itself. Scholars postulate that Kalzamaath sustains Aesor's vitality through the Shattered Light—a magnificent, multicolored dome of pure Marcry energy enveloping the world.   The Shattered Light, under the benevolent guidance of the Óhin, influences various facets of existence on Aesor. It controls Marcry powers, weather patterns, the flow of time, the alternation of day and night, and the very essence of life itself. Despite this profound influence, the exact mechanics of the Óhin's power remain a mystery.   As an organized religion, the Abbey of the Óhin stands as the institution dedicated to the worship and understanding of Kalzamaath. Its devoted servants offer spiritual guidance and maintain the sacred traditions associated with the dragon-god. While many questions about Kalzamaath persist, the faithful continue to draw strength and meaning from the teachings of the Óhin and the enduring presence of the Shattered Light.
