House Ashwell

House Ashwell has had a history of quiet success. Within their home of Ashfall, the house spent the early years building quiet power by acquiring farmland in the surrounding area, gaining the loyalty of many smaller houses. When trade oppened with Requiem, Ashfall became the stopping point for land trade and travel between the two kingdoms and Ashwell reaped in the rewards. But Ashwells army has always struggled, their personal force led by paper generals and with very little experience. This always kept them on the sidelines. They were in council rooms and supported others push for the throne, but rarely had a chance to take it themselves.    It wouldn't be until the War of the Dragon and the heroics at the Soltice Battle that House Ashwell saw a chance to take the throne, though it wouldn't be through military might. Argo Ashwell would famously slay the black dragon Khalzuth in the Greysoot Fields, wresting control of the head of the family from his brother who had spent most of the war hiding within his keep while his lands burnt. When the Autumn War struck and Coldcrest was ousted, Ashwell would rally itself in the south under their famed leader. When the Autumn War came to an end, Ashwells armies, though not the most well trained or equipped, were the most plentiful. And in 461 Argo would rally the support of the common folk towards his rule. House Scaleswept, wanting to avoid another burning of Anchorpoint, quietly left the city to the Ashwells.    The Ashwells have held the title of Paramount for 14 years, though it hasn't been uncontested. Luther Ashwell took over for his aging father, and had ruled for 4 years when the Fullrider Coup would be launched. House Fullrider had turned one of the Whitewatch against the crown, who assassinated Luther. If it weren't for the remaining guards she would have gotten Mira aswell, but the Whitewatch guard escaped. Mira Ashwell would ascend to the throne and organize a quick and brutal retalliation, including the full execution of House Fullrider and nearly any house (bar the major ones who they couldn't afford to fight) who they believe knew about the assassination. Known as the "Scouring of the Names", Mira tore down many minor houses.
